I woke up the next morning and got dressed in my best dress. It was a blue gown with lace trimmings at the sleeves and gold string that decorated the top. I also wore my blue , elegant slippers. I walked down the stairs to the kitchen and sat down at my usual table for breakfast. The cook came over to me and asked,”What would you like your Highness?” “I would like eggs, please and some milk,” I replied in confusion. The cook was pale and sweat was running down his face, and he was being unusually polite. He walked quickly away. I sat and tried to figure out why everyone was acting so weird. “Good morning, Child,”said a familiar voice. I turned around and saw the wizard from dinner last night. “Good morning,”I replied politely. “I see you don’t like to sit at the royal breakfast table,”he said. “No, I prefer to sit at the here because a lot of things happen.” “I see,”he replied,”Mind if I join you?” “No,”I said. The wizard sat down across from me just as he did last night. After sometime he spoke,”Child, last night I asked different witches and wizards if they can train you.” He paused. “Only one witch responded. She says she will come to the castle by afternoon.”
After breakfast I went into the garden to wait for the witch to arrive. Finally I saw a faint glow in the sky. Suddenly a witch appeared in front of me. She wore a green dress and had long auburn hair. “Excuse me she said in a kind tone of voice,” Does Millie Greenwitch live here?” “Yes,”I replied,” I am Millie.” “Oh, well do you know why I’m here?” “Yes, you are here to teach me how to use magic,” I answered. Then I heard footsteps approaching and I saw the wizard walk up behind me. “I felt your presence, Jenna,”the wizard said in a deep voice. “Galen, is this the girl that you said was a witch? She seems like a princess,”the witch asked. “Yes she is a princess-witch.” “B-But,” the witch stammered. “But the wizard held up his hand. “No more talking, Jenna, I have other things to do.” With that he snapped his fingers and with a puff of smoke was gone. “Come on,”the witch sighed,”Let’s get into the castle.” I asked her,”Would you like to sleep in the tower or do want a room on the second floor?” “Tower,”she replied. To be continued……
Crystal purred softly as I stroked her soft fur. One of the castle’s maids popped her head from behind the door,” The Queen wants to see you in the Great Hall.” “Tell her I’ll be right there,” I replied. The maid nodded her head and left. I slowly picked Crystal from my lap and laid her on my bed. Then I left the room. Outside of my room the castle is full of noises, people shouting, pages dropping things, and cooks banging pots together. With all the noise no one ever noticed me. Tonight however every single person who saw me stared with wide eyes. I didn’t know what was going on, so I just hurried down the stairs. I made it to the Great Hall just as a man in a blue robe entered the Great Hall. “Millie!” my mother said and made a gesture for me to come and sit down at the table that was piled high with food as if we were having a guest. I sat down next to my mother and she whispered in my ear,”The wizard is our guest,”she said in her soothing voice. “The man in the blue robe is the wizard,”I guessed.
The wizard sat across from me. “Well, sir do you believe me?”the wizard finally spoke. “No, I certainly do not. She is a princess and nothing more,”my father said in his I am the boss voice. I looked at my mother and whispered,”What are they talking about?” “Well the wizard says, he says that you are a witch,”she said a little nervously. I was shocked! “Are you all right, dear?”my mother asked in concern,”You look white as a sheet.” “I’m -I’m just a little surprised that’s all,”I said. A little surprised hardly described how I felt, but I didn’t want to worry my mother anymore than I had. “Child, indeed you are a witch and to prove it to your father,” here he glanced at my father,”I want you to try this spell. He handed her a parchment that had some writing on it. “Now, read it aloud, child,” he said. “Okay, here goes, I need some water, I need it fast, please give me water.” We waited for sometime but nothing happened. I was a little disappointed. But then a glass of water appeared in my hands. My parents stared at me and the wizard just smiled. I couldn’t believe it. I was a witch! A witch in GreenDragon!
To be continued…………
Darkness swirled all around me, almost choking me with its thick black fog. I couldn’t see anything. I couldn’t feel anything. It felt as if I was drowning, but I was completely dry. I could barely breathe nor move. Terrified, I tried to scream. But I couldn’t make a sound, like my mouth was stuffed with rags.
Was this death? I thought to myself, trying not to faint with terror. What on earth was happening? Where were the busy streets of New York?
As suddenly as I was scooped up into the darkness, it was bright again. I was falling through cold brisk air, and then landed roughly onto freezing snow. Snow? Oh, who cares were I am! I’m alive! Well, at least I hope I am.
I took a deep, shaky breath, and looked around, while still sitting down. I was in a clearing, surrounded by tall fern trees. The snow was as white as paper, and as cold as… Snow . I stood up, and saw a tiny red fox appear next to one of the trees. Its huge orange eyes blinked at me from a distance, but didn’t approach. I clicked my (numb) fingers, and bent over.
“Here lil foxy. Come here.” I said softly, but the small fox turned and ran. Poor thing, he must be freezing cold, like me. I sighed dramatically, and plonked myself back down on the icy snow.
“Oh thy Ara, what have you gotten yourself into?” I said loudly. I shook my head. If talking to yourself is the first sign of madness, then what’s the second?
I laughed at my stupidity when my mother showed me her powers. How could I be so stupid? My mother wouldn’t lie to me all of these years! “Jen, snap your fingers for me”, My mom said sweetly. “Why”? I asked curiously. “I want to see if you have a certain power my friend did before she passed away”, My mom said sweetly. I snapped my fingers and then all of a sudden the fingers i had snapped with had blue flames at the tips. “W-what? H-how? OMG, I need coffee. I’m simply delusional! Thats what it is”, I said. “No Jenny, You are not delusional. You are a sorceress and if you deny it, Jen, you wont forgive yourself for it. You’ll be haunted by your powers till you give it a try and then you’ll be hooked”, My mom said seriously. “Mom what if i don’t except this? What if i don’t heal the sick with me powers? What if I die out? What would happen to Gladys”? I asked. “No it’s not what happens to Gladys…………..it’s what happens to the world. All beings shall die if you do not help with your powers, Jen. What about your father? What would he think if he was still alive? Have you forgotton we all have emotions? You’d be letting us down Jenny, you’d be letting us down hard”, My mom said standing up. I stood up and looked her straight in the eyes. “What do I have to do”? I asked. “Heal the sick, stay alive, use your powers daily, bring justice, and never turn to the dark side of Gladys. Remember thats how your father died”, My mom said her eyes piercing me deeper and deeper. “I remember mom”, I said fighting back tears. My father died because he was tricked by my sister Alana and now my mom wont let me forget it. He died because Alana said I was being tortured in a cave but the truth was that I was unconscious on the beach. He went into the cave then bang he was gone, he was devoured by a deadly beast we know as La Trapadora. Her heart was of ice and her beauty was too good to be true and her most loyal subject…………………was Alana. But was I strong enough? Was I brave enough to hold the fate of the world? Too be continued…………..
