I didn’t know what to think watching Danni walk away from me alone on my porch. So I decided to sleep on it and thats exactly what I did. IN THE MORNING………

I woke up late about ten fifty-five in the morning. My cell phone rang and I answered it with a soft, “Hello”? “Hey, it’s Tim. I’ll be there in five get dressed”, Timmy said softly. “Timmy”! I yelled into the phone. The line went dead and there was a knock on the front door. I slipped on a shirt and some fade jeans and walked to the door. “Who is it”? I asked. “Danni”, Danni said softly. I opened the door and walked outside immediately. “He’ll be here in five”, I said boredly. “I know”, Danni said with a smile. “Of course you do”, I said sarcastically. “He’s here”, Danni said pointing to Timmy’s car pulling up. We got into Timmy’s car and he pulled out of the driveway. “Where are we going”? I asked. “Waffle house”, Timmy said. “Oh, whatever”, I said closing my eyes. We pulled up at Waffle House and he opened my door. I got out quickly and walked inside without a single word. We sat at a table in the back and I ordered pancakes. I ate slowly and Timmy ordered Iced tea. Danni said not a word and I still felt his gaze on my side. I stopped eating and pushed away the plate and said in a businesslike voice, “Tim, what is going on”? “I just wanted to take you to lunch with your new BFF”, Timmy said unconvincingly. “Tim”? I asked my temper rising. “I wanted Danni to do me a favor and I wanted to talk to you alone face to face for a minute. No interruptions at all”, Timmy said. “Talk to Danni before me you should save the worst for last”, I said narrowing my eyes. Timmy pulled Danni to the side and I could hear a sliver of their conversation. “-Over you”, Danni said. “Well, then you really are a jerk”,Timmy said madly. “I can’t help you with that”, Danni laughed. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, very funny”, Timmy said madly. “You really need my help? Then do exactly what I say when I say it”, Danni said seriously. “WHAT”? Timmy asked confused. “Just do what I say when you talk to her”, Danni whispered. “Fine”, Timmy said confused. They both joined me again and Timmy looked at me expectantly. “What”? I asked. “Okay, Jenny you are beautiful. Your hair, your eyes, everything, the way you talk. I can’t help but wonder if we can try ‘us’ over again. And if we can I swear I’ll be better”, Timmy said softly. “I’ve heard that before”, I said dozing off. “I want to be with you forever. Like Andy and your Mom except we don’t fall appart. I want to be with you”, Timmy said closing his eyes no magic involved. “Why”? I asked confused. “Your sweet, beautiful, nice, creative, young, crazy, funny, hard to say no to, and way out of my league”, Timmy laughed. “Tim, I don’t”-, I was interrupted. “Please don’t say no”, Timmy begged. “No”, I said standing up. “I thought you were ‘The one’ I thought we’d be perfect together. But I guess I was wrong you’re just a silly little girl who never says ‘yes’! And now I see who you truly are”, Timmy said angrily. “You can’t always get what you want but if you try sometimes you might just get what you need”, I said with a smile. “You are unbelievable! You believe you’re always right! Well, I gues I do know one thing you are no Sandra Slevick”! Timmy yelled. All of a sudden I was bright red and staring at him furiously. I slapped him and almost made it out of Waffle House when he grabbed me wrist. He pulled me near him his full power breathtaking. I tried to breathe but there was no air to breathe in. Timmy looked me in the eyes and I felt his trap set and I knew I was a goner. He put a strand of my hair behind my ear and kissed my cheek. I didn’t even protest I just watched as he stared down at me. I felt a surge of power run through my veins and I snapped back into reality. His hands were in my pockets and he pulled me closer. I pulled away and walked to the restroom quickly. I locked the stall door and pain ran through my veins as I scratched at my face. It felt like my face was burning off slowly and painfully just to make me hurt. I screamed hard and long and held my face in pain. I looked down at my hands and the skin started to bubble. My head burned, itched, seared, and ached so I screamed over and over groaning and moaning in pain. The pain suddenly stopped and I ran to the restroom mirror quickly. I didn’t look like myself at all my hair was fire red, my skin was tan, my eyes were pure fire, and I looked about twenty-one. I put on my sunglasses and walked out of the restroom. “Jenny”? Danni asked at the restroom door. “I’ve never heard that name before”, I lied in a totally grown up voice. “Jen, Seriously if this is you please tell me”, Danni said running his fingers through my firey hair. “Yes, It’s me”! I admitted. “You were screaming”, Danni said. “Because of the change. It hurt worse than cutting off all your skin”, I said pain shuddering in my throat. “Why did you change? What happened”? Danni asked. “I don’t know”, I said truthfully. Thats when someone walked into the Waffle House. He wore a biker jacket and leather pants with a dog collar. My sunglasses melted and fell to the floor. “Ah, crap. Fire bringer”? Danni asked. “My Mom is a Fire Bringer”, I said. “Dang, a sorceress plus a Fire Bringer equals a JADE. A JADE is a thing that is human at night but changes in the morning. The JADE is the most powerful thing after The Sorceress. Jenny, you are the most powerful thing in Gladys”, Danni said in all seriousness. “Jenny”? Danni asked. My eyes closed shut and I tasted fear in the room fear of me. I could taste murder, anger, and carelessness on the tip of my tongue. When I opened my eyes I lost control of this body. I walked toward the biker jacket guy and he pulled out a gun. He aimed it at me and shot over and over and over. I stood straight and no blood left me. My fire hair died for a second and my eyes closed. Then I opened my eyes abd twisted my head to one side. “Got you”, I said my fire hair buning again. My head erupted into flame and his gun melted and I held up a finger and said, “You ticked me off”. I picked him up by his shirt and said, “Look into my eyes”. The guy looked into my eyes and instantly turned into ash. The clock striked twelve and I fell to the ground screaming. My hair stopped burning, my eyes stopped flaming, and I changed back. Timmy and Danni walked over to me scared and I screamed harder. Thats when the pain stopped and I tried to stand up. Thats when somebody pulled put a gun and aimed it at my head. TOO BE CONTINUED……………………        

I was so hot! I had been working all day at the dump. I hadn’t had much luck. All I found was a tin can, a news paper, and a empty water bottle. It was getting dark. I hurried toward the market. Finally, I reached a stall with a bulky man standing behind the counter. “There you are you useless girl,”he said. “Sorry I-I’m late,” I stammered. “See that it doesn’t happen again,”he growled as he took the items from my hands. Then he dropped one penny in my trembling hands. “I think you gave me the wrong amount of money. You were supposed to give me three pennies remember? One for each item.” I begged. “Get out of here!!”he bellowed angrily. I ran as fast as I could. When I was far away from his stall I slowed down. Then I slowly began to trudge home. My stomach growled. I hadn’t had a bite to eat all day and I was beginning to feeling a little light-headed. I went inside my small hut, and found my two little sisters asleep on the floor. My parents were sick and in bed. I curled up by my sisters. My bones ached against the cold hard floor. I bolted from my sleep. I felt sick to my stomach. I was about to throw up! I ran outside and bent over in the grass. I scurried into the house to get a drink of water, but the water pail was empty. So I tip-toed to the dump to look for items again.

I screamed as I woke from my nightmare to find myself in my comfortable bed ,sweating. My mom rushed into my room and sat on my bed. “What happened,dear,”she asked with concern. “Nothing ,Mom,it’s was just a bad dream ,” I said. “I don’t think so,” she said as she touched my forehead,”Do you want juice or milk to drink?” she asked. “I’m going to take you to the doctor’s first thing tomorrow, you might even have to skip school,” she added, as she hugged me closer. I felt safe in my Mom’s soft but firm arms.

   My breathing went wrong when I saw him at the theater exit. I didn’t know he was that fast, I thought I could outrun him in a centi-second but know I know he’s way too fast for me. “Going somewhere”? Danni asked with a crooked smile. Timmy walked up behind me and said, “Yeah, going somewhere”? I took a deep breath and said, “the restroom. I really got to go, Man. You can’t hold it in that long”. Timmy raised an eyebrow up at Danni as if asking if I were lying and Danni nodded. “Movies almost over. Come on lets watch the ending”, Timmy said looking into my eyes. “N-n-yes, Fine”! I said crossing my arms. I glared at Danni and mouthed, ‘Death-wish’. He smiled then mouthed, ‘i’m so scared’. I stuck out my tongue and we watched the rest of the movie. Timmy smiled down at me then said, “Can we have a second chance”? “Wait, before I answer that what magical power do you have”? I asked. “I’m a soothsayer the power is in the words”, Timmy said softly. “Oh”, I said knowingly. “What are you”? Timmy asked. “The Sorceress”, I said softly. Timmy’s muscles tensed and I felt the want in him surge through his veins. “So, can we have a second chance”? Timmy asked hypnotically. “No, we can’t. I’ve moved on lets just be friends”, I said quickly. I looked down knowing if I looked into his eyes i’d be trapped by his power. “Jenny, please. We used to be the biggest IT couple Gladys has ever seen. What happened”? Timmy asked sadness and more want creeping into his voice. I had to tune him out or he’d have me for dinner I was just a complication in the plan. I looked at Danni then at my toes and Timmy said soothingly, “Come on, we’re perfect together”. “Nothing’s perfect, Tim”, I said irritatedly. “We are”, Timmy said. “No means no”, I said flatly. “Not when i’m talking to you”, Timmy said softly. I looked Timmy in the eye and was trapped by his pleading eyes and curvy soft lips. “Will you give us one more chance”? He asked his confidence rising as I stared at him unblinkingly. Danni saw this coming and said, “Timothy um, Jenny’s got to start her training in like a few so we have to go”. I snapped back into reality and said, “Yeah the movies over now”. Timmy looked up at the screen then back at me and said, “I’ll take y’all home”. We walked to his car and he drove us to my house. We all got out of the car including Timmy and he walked over to me swiftly and gracefully. “I’ll call you”, Timmy promised. “Why”? I asked. Timmy smiled and kissed me gently on the lips slowly then moved back towards his car. I really couldn’t let him go so I said stupidly, “I’ll answer”. Timmy turned back around and said, “Of course you will, Jenny. I didn’t doubt that for a minute”. “You are so vain”, I said madly. “If I think too much of myself then why am I thinking that you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever met and I……….um, don’t want to meet anybody else”, Timmy said stepping towards me. Danni crossed his arms beside me and I knew if I made any physical contact towards Timmy i’d be grilled on it later. Timmy put one hand on my cheek and I said, “Tim, Go home. Call one of your other ex-girlfriends”. Timmy put his hands in his pockets and turned towards his car. “Crud”! I mumbled under my breath. I turned him around and gave him a hug. “Bye”, I said. “Are you still going to answer”? He asked. “Probably not”, I said truthfully. “I’ll see you tomorrow at lunch. Danni can come if he wants”, Timmy said reluctantly. “Whatever”, I said pulling away. Timmy drove away and Danni put a hand on my shoulder. “I see what you mean”, Danni said. “Well doesn’t that make you smart”, I said sarcastically. “I don’t need your sarcasm”, Danni said. Then he added, “I’ll see you at lunch”. “Bye”, I said softly. Danni smiled then said, “Bye”. He kissed my cheek and walked the opposite direction of my house. TOO BE CONTINUED…………..
