Scamper - September 21, 2009 by raqshan

Cute lab puppy

Gray clouds gathered in the sky and I sat on my front porch as the waves crashed against the beach. My little brother,Eric sat next to me feeding him pet mice. My gold, curly hair blew behind in the wind. From here I could here the t.v. on in the living room and I knew that my parents were in a bad mood. For the past few days they hadn’t talked to each other unless we were around. I got up and walked off the the porch. I didn’t bother to get my flup-flops. The sand was not hot like it was yesterday. I stood watching the waves . I stared into the water and wished that the storm would go away so that I could go surfing. I was staring hard at the water when I saw something wash on the shore. It was black. I ran to the creature and picked it up and ran to my house before the next wave reached the shore. The creature was so heavy that I had to carry it with both of my hands. I put the animal down on the bench and looked at it carefully. It was a puppy. It was about the size of a small house plant. “Eric!”I hissed, “Come look at this!”  Eric came over to where I was bent over the puppy. “Holy, cow!”he exclaimed,” How did you find a puppy on the the beach in the begining of a storm,Hazel?” “It came with a wave,”I told Eric. I picked the dog up and carried him to the living room. My parents were in a heated argument. “No Rachel! We simply can’t aford to move! We just got out of dept and the kids love it here!”my father shouted at my mother. “I hate it here,Dave! And no one cares one bit! I have no job and no friends!” my mother yelled. That’s when my parents notisted Eric and me standing there. “Go to your rooms!” my mother yelled at us. “But-”I tried to speak but my mother wouldn’t let me,”No buts, Hazel! Don’t question your mother!” Slowly Eric and I went to the room that we shared. “So Mom wants to move, huh?”Eric muttered under his breath. Setting the dog down on my bed I got a towel from the closet that we had to share. I rapped the puppy in the towel and started  to rub it. “What the heck are you doing?” Eric asked. “I’m trying to warm it,”I told him patiently. Suddenly the puppy moved. Then the next thing I new the pup was scampering around the room and Eric had jumped onto his bed and dashed under his covers. The scene was so funny that I that I laughed so hard that I cried. When I recovered Eric was not looking amused. The puppy was sitting at my feet and wagging his tail. “I think he is hungry,”I declared. “How do you know that he’s a boy?” Eric asked meekly. I picked up the puppy and showed him what was down there. “Oh.” Just then the door opened and my dad stood there frowning. “What’s all that noise-”he stopped,” What in thunder?!” He stared at the puppy then he looked sharply at me,” What is this about? Why didn’t you tell me and my mother about this?” I had just about enough now,” I tried but you two were to busy fighting and then Mom told me to my room!”I yelled on the top of my lungs. To my surpries I found that I was crying. My father face soften. “I’m sorry,Hazel,”he apolagized. I forgave him an as a gift he let me keep the puppy. I named him: Scamper.

Years have passed and Scamper grew and grew soon he was 3 years old. It was a hot day on the beach and Scamper,Eric and I were on the beach. There were a lot of tourists on the beach. It was mid afternoon when I almost drowned. You see I can surf but I’m not good at swimming. I was surfing when this huge wave came and knocked me off my surfboard. I tried to get my surfboard but it was all I could do to keep my head ubove the water. “Help! Help!“I yelled. Then there was a splash and I thought that the lifegaurd had come to recue me but it was Scamper. Scamper was a great swimmer. He swam over to me and slid under my arms and started to swim to the shore. When we made it to the shore I got out of the water and Scamper ran to me. The next week Scamper was awarded with a medal. A lot of people gave me presents but the greatest gift of all was Scamper. I saved him from the sea and he saved me too.

Evangeline - September 21, 2009 by Sydney Bailey

The ball was amazing, gowns skimmed the marble floors as the beautiful dancers danced. It was the fire dance for this year. Simply amazing, A girl with golden brown eyes and moonlight black hair stood out the most. Her name was Evangeline Moon. She looked just like her mother, dominant cheek bones, midnight black hair, long lean body, and beautiful rose red lips. But the eyes…She had her father’s eyes, the irresistiblegolden eyes made her look as if a vampire but more alive than ever. She wore a dress short and flirty that matched her hair, her eyes made her stand out from the dancers. A boy with beautiful blue eyes and gold curly hair walked toward her and gently guided her down the ballroom. “Dance with me”, He smiled as if he were the most handsome boy in England. He looked vain, he talked as if talking slower made the world seem less retarded. What was this mongrel talking to me for? Evangeline thought seeing him as he truly was. He was a dog, not literally but in his acting manner he was the form of a dog. “Like I have a choice your royal heiness. I would be ever so pleased to dance with such a mongrel”, She laughed. Her voice was musical with a spanish accent as if England was not her birth home. “I demand your name”! The boy yelled. His voice harsh and demanding as ever. “You may demand but I may not give”, She smiled. “Speak to me your name or I shall have you thrown to your death”, He threatened. “Your authority does not scare me, My King. You charm does not blind me, and your disguise is not likely to be bulletproof. You chose to dance with me because of looks not because of who I am”, Her voice was sharp edged with warmth and kindness for someone being so harsh. “SPEAK YOUR NAME MONGREL”! He demanded. She smiled kindly then sang so only he could hear, “Evangeline”. His eyes bulged in surprise and he grabbed at his throat. No air came to him as he turned white as stone and withered to ashes.

“Beauty is from within, Humans. Do not pick because of how beautiful one is! Choose by how brave or mighty their heart shalt look. Because even the cutest rat can be as vicious and unfaithful as a lone wolf”, She said to the humans who gaped at her. “Forever remember Mistress Evangeline”! They chanted. She could not hear what they were saying because she was deaf to the grateful soul but she knew deep inside what to do. “Goodbye”, She said with a smirk. Her voice echoed off the walls as she turned her dress and a cape trailed behind her. She slowly slid up her hood and howled to the sky its rightful owner.

Blue Butterflies - September 21, 2009 by Sydney Bailey

I watched the sunset on the horizon as I did every night my parents got into an argument. I felt the sand beneath my toes and wiggled them around just for the fun of it. Soon the sun went down and it was completely dark except for the dim lights on the front porch of our beach house. I heard a crack of thunder and felt rain pore down on me almost immediatley, which was felt pretty good. My little brother Miles sat down beside me crying so I pulled him into a hug that expressed every feeling I had at that moment. “Why do they have to fight”? He asked wiping his eyes. “Miles, I don’t know. Its just been hard for Mom and Dad these past few months, you know. And I know you’ll learn how to deal with it somehow Miles, I learned how to six months ago”, I said ruffling his golden curls. “Anna, If you ever tell anybody I cried I will deny it”, Miles laughed. Afterall, Miles is like fourteen with an old soul as Mammy would say. He usually never cried if you don’t count fake crying to his crush Amanda. “I’ll never tell”, I promised knowing what damage he could do to me if I didn’t promise. Miles was sweet and all but he was a natural prankster, my little prankster. “What do you want for your birthday, Anna”? Miles asked. “I don’t know, Bro. Maybe a football or a cell phone? Or I don’t know a better car”, I laughed. Miles laughed with me and thats when we both heard something break inside the house. We both stood up and ran into the house so fast,  it made the guy from the fantastic four look slow. “Debbie! Stop throwing things”! Dad yelled in the kitchen. I ran into the kitchen Miles at my tail and saw my Mom throwing random items. “MOM! Calm down”, I yelled. She was crying as I could see her mascara smeared and her lipstick faded as she turned to me. “Be quiet, Annalysa”! Mom yelled. “Mom, put the vase down”, Miles said soothingly.  “I want a divorce”! Dad yelled. “Fine, Miles is living with me”! Mom yelled. My heart fell instantly, I knew she loved Miles alot but she took this to a new level. “Then I get Anna! And soon I will have custody of Miles”, Dad said grabbing my hand. “Don’t we get a say in this”? I asked hurt. “No, Annalysa! You don’t. Now pack your bags and get out of MY house”, She yelled at me. I felt tears come to my eyes as I ran to my room and picked up my already packed luggage. I walked over to my Dad who was almost in tears by the couch and hugged him tight. “I love you, Daddy. I’ve got my stuff packed let’s leave now”, I said wiping a loose tear. “Okay, Let’s go. I’ve been having my stuff in the Camaro for months, let’s go”, Dad said patting my hair. I let out a horrible sob and walked towards Miles. Just then my Dad took my hand and said, “Let them be, Anna. They need some time to think”. I nodded and we got into the Camaro quickly and thats when I saw Miles running towards the car in tears again. “Anna”! He yelled sadly. I couldn’t let him be here without ME it just wasn’t an option. Dad looked at me then said, “Just leave him be”. I nodded understanding what he was doing and we drove away just as Miles screamed my name one last time. “I have a house in New York”, Dad said shortly. “I know you do, Dad. You take me there every weekend remember”? I asked rolling my eyes. “You will be attending Quinton Senior High”, Dad said quickly. I looked up at him and said, “I’m sorry, Dad. I think it was all my fault you two are getting divorced. I should have just stuck with public school instead of dance”. “Annalysa, You think this is all about you? No, Your Mom and I were arguing because Miles and you are so close I can’t ever get him to do his homework. And Amanda calls so much, Sweetie. But I’m at work when she calls and I get so many messages to come home to. And the fact that you want to goto dance school is amazing, Anna, I love that you want to dance full time. It’s just your Mom doesn’t want you to and this subject is only minor to our other problems. I love you, Anna, I want you to know that”, Dad said pulling into the driveway of our vacation home. “Love you too, Dad. Forever”, I said walking up the steps and unlocking the door. ”Why did your Mom act that way? Why did she take Miles instead of you”? Dad asked himself. “Are you blind, Dad? Mom has always been alittle magnetic to Miles. They have the same perfect golden hair. They have the same eyes, face it Dad! He’s a spitting image of her! She loves that, you want to know why? Because she doesn’t have to look in the mirror anymore to find beauty”, I spat. “She only cares about herself and is blind towards the people that love her. Miles told me once that he wished we could leave Mom and goto California to meet his pen pal. He didn’t say to leave you, Mom wants what she can’t get”, I added coldly. Dad stared down at me then said, “I can’t believe you could be so right and  could be so wrong”. “Dad, you’re a guy. It happens”, I laughed. We walked inside and I immediatley walked to my room and unpacked. “Anna, Can I have your car”? Dad asked from outside my bedroom door. “Are you serious”? I asked. “Yeah, I’m getting you a new one”, Dad said waiting for his words to take affect.

The next day I arrived at school and went to my first class. When I got there I sat down in the back and put my hair in a ponytail. I’ve learned it’s better to keep your hair in a ponytail the first day so people can see your facial features better. A girl beside me smiled and I half smiled at her. “I’m Shelby Andrews”, She introduced sweetly. ”I’m Annalysa Martinez”, I said pumping her hand. “I’ll call you, Spidergirl”, She laughed. “Then I get to call you, Angel”, I laughed. “Yes, Cause’ your wearing black all over and I’m wearing white all over”, Shelby stated. I laughed at her obvious fake happiness and scanned the room. Man, I wish Miles were here. I really didn’t like Shelby that much because she’s a natural chatterbox. I forgot I was at school once and almost thought she was a T.V. so I tried to find th mute button. She looked offended, I really didn’t care. I missed my Miles, My little baby! And I was going to get him back one way or another. Classes flew by and it was suddenly time for lunch. I ditched and drove down to the vacation house to see my Mom’s car parked in the driveway. I walked inside and saw Miles on the couch, excused from school. “MILES”, I yelled. He ran over to me and gave me a big hug. “Anna”, He cried into my shirt. “I missed you those few hours you weren’t with me”, I smiled. “Don’t ever leave me again”, Miles said into my shirt. “Okay, I promise”, I said doing our handshake. “What happened”? I asked. “You’ll never belive it! Mom and Dad are staying married because of you! Your birthday is tomorrow so they decided it wouldn’t be fair. He’s already gotten you a present you can open right now”, Miles said pointing to the table in the living room. I walked over to it and opened the box slowly and carefully quaking with excitement. Thats when I saw them it was a jar full of blue butterflies the size of my fist. I looked into the jar and said,” Miles”? Miles ran over to my side and I said, “Why’d Dad get me these”? “Becuase when you were born Mammy wanted to name you Blue Butterflies and Dad said no seventeen times. The same age you are now”, Miles smiled up at me. “Who told you that”? I asked. “Let’s just say alittle butterfly told me”, Miles smiled sweetly. I ran my fingers through his hair and we watched the butterflies buzz around in the jar. Thats when I thought I saw one wink at me but I just couldn’t believe it.

The Gold ring - September 21, 2009 by jenny

In the heart of London there lived a lady named Fiona . She wasn’t very rich so she tried to have rich friends. One of the rich friends were, Tilly. Tilly often had Fiona over for tea or dinner. One day Fiona received an invitation to a very, very rich person’s party. She didn’t have any thing to wear so Tilly let her borrow a dress. But Fiona wasn’t satisfied. She didn’t have any jewelry to wear. So ,Tilly the kind friend that she was, let her borrow a gold ring and some earrings.

Finally the day of the party arrived! Fiona put on her dress, the ring and the earrings. Her husband put on an old suit of his and they were on their way! They arrived at the party and had a marvelous time, eating and drinking and dancing. Finally the party ended at about 2:00 in the morning. When the couple got home they changed their clothes before they went to bed. Fiona was taking off Tilly’s jewelry when she gave a small cry of surprise and fright. The gold ring was not on her finger! She new she had it when she left the party because she had checked so it must have dropped off her finger while they were walking home. The couple ran out and checked every where but the ring was gone! “What will we do!?” Fiona wailed. “We will have to check the store tomorrow and see if we can buy the ring.” the husband replied,” There is nothing else we can do.” So the next day Fiona and her husband went to the jelwelry shop and found the exact same ring but to their dismay they found that it was 20,000 dollars and they didn’t have that kind of money. So day after day and year after year they worked their heads off to earn 20,000 dollars in cash. One day Fiona was walking taking a brake from her work when she someone she reconized. Who else could it be but Tilly? “Fiona!” Tilly cried. She ran over to where Fiona was standing. “My friend, where have you been hiding your self?” “I have been working,Tilly. To earn 20,000 dollars so that I can buy the same kind of ring that I lost the night of the party. Tilly gasped. Fiona thought that she gasped because she had lost the ring. But she was wrong. Dead wrong. Tilly gasped because of something else,” Oh no! Fiona you didn’t have to work to pay me back for the ring. What you saw at the store was a real gold ring. What I let you wear was fake. It was only polished wuth a gold color!” Fiona’s mouth hung wide open. “You mean that we did all that work for-for nothing?” Tilly nodded,”If you only told me that you lost the ring I could have told you!”

Wolf Attack - September 21, 2009 by Lizzy

Snow lay on the ground like a blanket of cotton. Our car drove across the snowy landscape. We stopped in the middle of no where. I got out of the car and looked around around. There was white as far as an eye could see. To my left there was a forest of pine trees with snow clinging to the branches. My dad took out the camping gear and set up camp. That night we were sitting around the fire roasting marshmallows. I ate my marshmallow when I saw a movement at the corner of my eye. “Look!” I cried. We all turned towards the woods. Nothing. “Lilly,I think your over reacting,”my mother told me sternly. I sighed.

In the morning I awoke to a tearing noise. I got up and got out of my tent. Ther was a wolf! It was radeing our food. I ran to the tent next to me and whispered as quietly as I could,”There is a wolf out side our camp and it is eating our food!” My mom and dad got up and my dad took out his .357 Magnum. He got out and we waited for the shooting to start. Suddenly there was a bloodcurtleing screem and mom and I dashed out side. Dad was laying on the ground. The wolf stood towering over him.His gum was 12 feet away from him. I grabed it and amed at the head. I fired two shotsn It died instantly. That was a close call!

The Dreaded Weekend-Pt.1 - September 21, 2009 by cacarrier

My alarm went off. I sat up and glared at it. What was it doing, waking me up in the early morning? It was 4:30. I turned off the alarm clock, sat back in bed, sat up in bed, and did a double take. Blood-red letters don’t lie:4:30 A.M. I leapt out of bed and began to pace. Saturday already? Where had the week gone?

I stumbled down the stairs into my cozy kitchen, but today it seemed cold and forbidding. I was given a slight shock to see my dad sitting at the table. “Dad…wha…”  He nodded gravely. “I know,” Dad said in a deep voice. The week has gone by far too quickly. But it is Saturday. They are coming.”

What is love????? - September 21, 2009 by cacarrier

What is love?

Can you count love?

Is love manufactured?

What is love?

Love is made with only the deepest of feelings.

Love is infinite, you just keep adding on.

Love is desire, love is soul, love is life.

Red Trust: my normal day - September 11, 2009 by Lauren

It was like any of those normal days. Those average days where I had to spend my dull day in a burning hot school and learn absolutely nothing. But unlike most people, I have to be on consist alert of any danger, or a threat….. of me. I have to be careful about not showing my fangs, or my vampire powers by accident. Imagine how hard it is to be able to run as fast as a car, and have to be as slow as I can during a stupid gym race and have to purposely lose, so I am the last person to think who can run effortlessly fast. Or how about being so used to being as quite as a bug and have to stomp my feet on the ground like an elephant just to match the other human kids in my school? Yeah, it is difficult. But I have managed for 14 years. Fourteen long, long years. But once in a while, I can slip.

It was a bright sunny afternoon, just like any other day. Birds were singing, flowers bloomed cheerfully, and the grass rustled as the wind blowed by. I stepped out the front doors of Joan Willers Middle school, and listened to the people wave their friends good-bye. I stepped down the stairs and heard many “See ya at school tomorrow” ‘s and “Bye bye so and so,” ‘s, but not one person called my name, Luna, to say a farewell. Not one said, “Bye Luna, see you tomorrow!” Well, unless you count a jerk calling out, “See you later, Loser Luna,”  as I walked on the sidewalk.  They are lucky I don’t bite them.

However, I didn’t mind and brought my attention toward the wonderful and fine day. I kept on walking home, but couldn’t help think what stupid rubbish that humans made up about vampires burning painfully in the sun. Vampires may prefer the darkness, however, they are not effected by sunlight in anyway. I began to smirk at the ridiculous myths about vampires! Sleeping in coffins, no reflection in mirrors! Not much of the myths were correct, except for maybe the garlic, which most vampires are allergic to, but they certainly have never killed a vampire (unless they had an extreme allergic reaction),  living a long time (max amount of years is 300 years old), and oh, yes. Vampires will some times drink human blood. But I have not taken a scent or a drip  of human blood, or any blood ever in my mouth.

I began to giggle a bit at a funny vampire joke, and became unaware of what’s around me and where I had gone. It took me a few minutes to realize the echo of foot steps behind me that whispered in my ears. The pattern demolished as I stopped laughing, but was replaced by a soft voice.

“So what were you laughing at?” A soft serious voice of a young girl rang. I stopped walking and stood there for a minute, then turned around to face a familiar girl. She was a tall, skinny with long dark brown hair and nearly black eyes.

“Nothing,” I replied as I looked at her for a moment and remembered she used to be in my school last year before she transfered. I couldn’t remember her name, but I think it was Emma.  Looking at her serious frown on her flawless pale skin,  I remembered what a downer she was to the school, and how excited I was to have her gone, despite that I have never talked to her. If you knew me (If anyone actually knew me!), they would know how different…umm….. Emma was from me. I have a clear sense of humor and usually perky  like no one has ever seen and maybe if people gave the time to talk to me, they would no that! However,  Emma was a serious and depressing person, who could even make the sun go dark.

” Yeah, I don’t think so,” The girl gave a smirk, which was the only time I seen her smile, “You are Luna Starel, correct? I am Enola Dolly.”  Emma, I mean Enola suddenly seemed more cheerful, or which was a large shock that gave me a shiver down my back. What was she playing at? She has smiled before at school last year. I wasn’t sure what she was up too, but I didn’t really care to find out

“Yes, I have seen you before. You were at my school last year. And I am pretty sure I have seen you walking on the opposite sidewalk, ” I told Enola. I gave her an awkward smile and explained to her I have to get home. I turned around and began to walk away.

I heard a strange giggle from Enola’s throat as she said, “All right, but watch those fangs of yours, vampire.” I stopped dead and turned to face her. A pair of white fangs could be seen from her mouth.
