“I wonder what would happen if a kid became president.” It was an innocent thought that flowed from my mouth. All the people at my lunch table began to ponder the idea.

“Well,” I murmured, scrabbling in my mind. “Who do you think it would be?” Almost everybody said “Me.” I didn’t, however. I don’t want to be president of the United States of America. It’s just not for me.

“Why not have a sample election?” The freight train pouring from my mouth couldn’t stop. It had better. This was getting out of control. Everybody, of course, wanted to.

“All in favor of Eric for prez?” I called. Two hands in the air. “Matthew?” I asked. No response. “Brian?” “I’m not in the election, ” Brian mumbled hurriedly. “Gotcha,” I replied. Any body for Erin?” Two hands. “Lindsey?” Nothing. “Me?” Nobody. Phew!

“It’s a beautiful day in the cafeteria, and the scores all tied up between Eric and Erin. This is the Kid 4 Prez election. Tiebreaker is… trivia!” Now Judge of Kid 4 Prez trivia election, I scrabbled in my mind for a complicated trivia question. “Got it!’ I suddenly yelped. “First category is… body parts! True or false. The fibula is located near the rib cage. You have one minute to answer. Time… starts… now. ” I relaxed as the candidates pondered. “Who has the answer?” I asked.
