Warriors of the Forest; Part One - June 22, 2010 by raqshan

silver fox pup

Chapter One:

“Oof!” Silverdust tried to wriggle out from under her littermate, Ivycloud. Her sister was hovering over her, the weight of  her body pinning Silverdust to the mossy floor of the nursery. The nursery was filled with other fox pups who were snoozing, playing, and scuffling at each other. Their mothers were all laying at the far side of the bramble walls talking quietly to each other. Silverpup’s own mother, Dovewing, was settled there, among the mothers.

Sliverpup’s paw shot out and swiped across Ivycloud’s snout. Her claws were sheathed, so that it didn’t hurt. Ivycloud yelped with surpries and backed off of Silverdust. Springing to her paws Silverdust waisted no time in charging Ivycloud and inturn knocked her over. The small, grey fox pup tumbled onto the ground and rolled across the moss until she bumped into a fox that had a white pelt except for a large splash of ginger fur on her back. Her name was Hazeltail. Dovepup tumbled into Hazeltail and they both rolled out of the nursery through the small gap in between the bramblw walls. Silverdust padded to the hole that her mother had warned her not to go through unless she was with them. Just as Silverdust peeked out of the gap Ivycloud and Hazeltail rushed back into the nursery.

“What did you see?” Silverdust asked excitedly. Other pups had seen Ivycloud and Hazeltail roll out and they all bounded over to hear what the two young pups had seen of the camp. The young pups were never allowed out of the nursery and the older pups always egsagerate the large warrior cats and how large the camp was. The pups all gathered around Ivycloud and Hazeltail. Silverdust swiped her paw over Ivycloud’s ears and persisted,” Well, what did you see?” “We saw,” Hazeltail cut in before Ivycloud speek,” big cats as big as Mama and some even bigger, and also we saw-” Hazeltail never finished. She didn’t need to. Silverdust’s mother had seen them and had sat listening to them. Now she stepped towards them and said in her smooth voice,” Why don’t all of you go out into the camp and see it for yourselves?” “Really, Mama?” Silverdust could hardly contain her excitment,” Are we really going to see camp?” “Of course, Silverdust. I think you’re all old enough.” The pups all bounded with ecitment towards the gap and each one tried to squeeze out at the same time. Finally, Silverdust popped out of the tight space that she had tried to come out of. Getting to her paws, she gazed aroung her and took in her first glimses of the camp.

Fire - June 22, 2010 by cacarrier

Starts as a spark, then grows,

Devours cardboard, dry leaves and paper

Reduces some unwanted cardboard to ash

        Hungry, snarls for more.

Tiny hands, warmed by the smoke,

Drop in some dry pine needles

They glow orange, like fiery snakes,

                                                               Then crumble to ash

                 The fire needs more

                   But more does not come

The last flames fade and sleep

On a bed of ash that once was fiery snakes

A foolish deed indeed - June 22, 2010 by exhan443

My friend Polo and I were sitting in a desk while tossing maicure bottles. I threw one to her and waited expentantly for her to pass it back. Instead she said, “Reca, we are so good at this, lets try it without the cap off.” I hesitated quite a while. If I did it, The manicure bottle would probably spill, and if I did…I did not want to think about it. But if I refused, Polo would spread rumers that I was a scardy cat and that would be the end of me.

After considering it a day or so, I decided to toss aroud the manicure bottle with the cap open(even though I thought it was a dangerous deed) while my mum was not here. After making sure that my mum was not here, We started on. Polo tossed the bottle to me, ad I tossed it to her. She caught it, but the bottle was up side down. Uh- Oh we thought, as my mum’s car pulled up the drive way.

Precisely three minuets later, I was standing there alone for me to explain the mess. When I lied and said that Polo’s cat did it, she called Polo’s mum her self. When my angry mom shut the phone and stared at me with a red face and yowled that polo did not have a cat. Red faced, I stood in the corner, waiting for my dreadful puishment.

Whe my mum came with a notebook and a pencil, I knew what my dreaded punishment would be. I would be grounded and forced to write lines. It was the most popular remidies for mothers who had naughty teenage children. It was to make me to write 10000 lines of something or 5000 lines each for two things in my room until I finished them. I could not belive that my mum was going to use this punishment on me. Veronica( a classmate of mine) said that her mum had used this punishmet on her. Her hands were bright red when she came to school the next day. She howled when we even just touched her hand. She said ”I would rather have my mum use the paddle on me.”

I went up to my room sadly and heard the key click in my door. I rapidly started writing. My hands started to sore when I had only write 50 lines of ‘I must not lie to my parents.’ I started to wonder if my mum cared more about me lying to her than spilling the manicure. I wrote for about 12 more hours and then I saw that I had only writen about 50000 lines. My right hand was to sore to even touch anything and I started to use my left hand.

When I was finally done my lines, I knew that I would have rather been spaked hard than writing all those lines. My mom unlocked the door than said, “open the door yourself.” I dreaded those words. As soon as I touched the handle, I yelped because it felt like bare skin touching white-hot steel. My mum said, “do it.” I closed my eyes and tried to keep away the pain.

When I finally opened the door, my smiling mum was just outside. She asked, “did you learn your lesson?” I nodded, trying to put up a smile. “Honesty to parents are more importat than accidents. My mother smiled and gave me a warm hug.

Mum - June 22, 2010 by exhan443

Mum

You are as smart as a 100 year old owl

You have the brains of pure gold

You are so smart that you can tur a blanket into a towel

You try your best

To guide me through ordeals

That are as heavy as wearing a stone-full vest

In this poem, I try to tell you things that are so lovely

That I cannot describe in words or letters

Wether I’m as small as a bee

Or as big as a bass

You have love that can ot be shattered like mere glass

The man that can eat everything. - June 22, 2010 by Barana Jean

A man named Louis can eat everything, a dinner table fit for a king, he can at the food (even the table), a house, he can eat (even the people), 3 busloads of kids, he can eat it, a very, very huge garden, he can eat it, EVEN THE EARTH, well not that but  maybe. One day while Louis was walking, a con man stepped up to him and said, if you can 18 spoons, 10 big houses, 10 big houses, 12 busload of 18 kids, 19 castles, and finally three states, I will give you 3,000 dollar in cash, take it or leave it. Louis except but he didn’t eat the amount the con man said, no he ate 200 spoons, 100 huge houses (even the people), 120 busload of children, 1,00 castle with 123,000 people, but he didn’t eat 3 states did he, no he ate 10 states. People try to stop him, (even the military, navy and the air  force), but they were all eaten up by him. He even ate the con man, well no money for him (well if he really get money). He ate cities, countries  and states. That maybe turned into a yes when he ate the whole earth, he ate planets and galaxies. When there was nothing to eat, he ate himself. And he never ate again.

Hope (continued,still on first chp.) - June 22, 2010 by CoOkIeMoNsTeR9

“Nothing.  Never mind.  I stepped in geese poop.  That’s all.  I’m going to rinse my sneakers.”

“Okay.”  I bolted upstairs and slammed my bedroom door.  I inhaled deeply and sighed.  I wasn’t going to doodle his name in my notebook (even though I don’t know his name) and I’m not going to obsess over him, calling all my friends and saying he’s so hot.  It’ll be my little secret.  At least for now.

As night dawned on, I couldn’t fall asleep!  I counted sheep, listened to music.  Nothing!  Nada!  Zip!  Zero!  I gazed out my glass window as the stars glistened under the moon.  My eyelids became heavy and around 1:30 AM I dozed off.

In the morning I quickly got dressed and quietly tip toed downstairs and out the door.  I picked up speed and zoomed to the pond.  Out of breath, (luckily I didn’t pass out) I took a seat on the bench once more and patiently waited for the bicycles to race by.  I sat there for about half an hour and just in the nick of time, the hot guy on the bike came by.

“Come here often?  Here, I got you a little something.”  He passed a steaming cup of coffee to me.

“Yeah, I come here a lot.  Thanks for the coffee.”

“So, I saw you starring at me yesterday.”  I spit out my coffee.

“I wasn’t starring.  I was just……”  He interrupted.

“Starring.”  I couldn’t help but laugh because it was so true.  “Well, I’m David.”  He took a firm grasp of my hand and shook it up and down.

“Nice to meet you David.  I’m Allie.  I’m not usually this forward, but my dad died in a car accident last summer, my mom’s super depressed, and I used to have a horrible past.  In other words, my life used to be reruns of the movie Mean Girls.”

“Oh, I’m sorry about your father.  If it makes you feel better, maybe we can hang out sometime.”

“Yeah, that’s be nice.  But if it’s not too much to ask, what was that yesterday with the bikes?”

“Oh, some guys and I were taking a little bike ride.  Would you like to join us sometime?”

“No thanks.  I really think I should be getting back home.  I snuck out and my mom’s probably wondering where I am.”

“Okay.  Will I see you tomorrow?”

“Definitely.  Again, thanks for the coffee.”

“You’re welcome.”  My cheeks flushed with red and I took my delicious coffee and swelling heart home.  Luckily, Lisa was still sound asleep when I crept back in.  If only Lisa wasn’t depressed.  I shrugged and with one whiff, I knew I needed to take a shower.

The warm water rushed down my skin and the aroma of lavender filled my nose.  I wrapped a faded green towel around my body and thoroughly combed through my hair.  They were like brown strands of silk.  I stepped into my room and shuffled through my closet.  I slipped on a pair of jean shorts, clean white tank top, and I can’t forget the rainbow striped stockings.  I threw myself on the mattress and stared at the ceiling.  I used to have an enormous poster of a hot band plastered to the wall and I would blow a kiss to it every night and every morning.  Ugh.  I stuck my tongue out and sat up, slouching.

“Al!  Al!”  Lisa was up.  I rolled my eyes and rushed to her side.

“Yes mother?”

“Soup?”

“Sure.  What kind?”

“Chicken……noodle.”

“Okay, coming right up.”  I had a confused expression on my face, but I didn’t question authority (at least not in person).  I mean who wants soup for breakfast?  But there was a lot of things wrong with my mom, so I couldn’t really blame her.  After I fed her, I thought I might take a stroll to the park and have a one woman picnic and watch the sunset after.

I gathered a picnic basket (that was a hundred years old), plaid blanket, a crunchy peanut butter sandwich, salty potato chips, a freezing bottle of water, scrumptious chocolate chip cookies, and fresh cantaloupe.  I didn’t bother asking Lisa if I could go out.  I didn’t even know why I did.  She was in her room all day waiting to be fed like a baby.

As I made my way down to the park, I spotted David heading my way.  At least I thought it was David.  I bit my lip and took a quick bite off my sandwich.

“If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’re following me.”  I chuckled.

“FYI, I’m not a stalker.  I came down here for a picnic.”

“By yourself?  You can’t possibly eat all of this!  Can you?”

“Well, would you like to join me?”  He plopped down right next to me and smiled.  His lips looked so soft.

“Allie?  You okay?”  I snapped out of my little fantasy world and fixed my eyes on the half eaten PB sandwich.

“Oh, sorry.  I didn’t pack two sandwiches.”

“That’s okay.  You mind?”  At first I had no idea what he was talking about, but then I realized he wanted to share my sandwich.  I thought it was a little weird because only friends share food and clothes, not strangers.  Caving in, I passed the saliva infested, peanut butter filled bread.

“Thanks.”  He scarfed down the entire thing!  I thought he asked for a bite, not to suck up the whole thing.  “Oh, I apologize.  I’m famished!”

“Well, in that case eat everything!”  My stomach growled in disagreement, but I had more snacks at home.  As we gobbled down cookie by cookie and chip by chip, it came down to the last piece of cantaloupe.  I reached in to snatch it, but so did David.  Our hands touched and I immediately pulled away.

“Were you going to eat that?”

“No, you go ahead.”  I wanted to bang my head against the wall.  I knew nothing about romance or love.  How to be flirty.  My first instinct was to make up some lame excuse and rush home, but then I thought again.  Spending more time here meant more time with David.

“So what do you like?  What are you like?”  I figured, since we’re already here we can get to know each other.

“Pardon me?”

“Like your favorite color, favorite animal, what you want to be.  That kind of stuff.”

“I love dogs, my favorite color is red, I want to be a high school mathematics teacher, I have a younger sister named Joey.  You?”

“I’m an only child, I’m not a cat person either, I love the color purple, and I want to be a painter when I grow up.”  This was a start.

“I see.”

“Yep.”  Awkward silence.  I giggled.

“What’s so funny?”  He asked bewildered.

“Nothing.  Nothing.”

“I know this is out of the blue, but what do you look for in a guy?  You don’t have to answer if it’s too personal.”  I thought for a minute.  The qualities I look for in a guy?

“I want someone who’s loyal, respectful, trustworthy, intelligent, good sense of humor, sweet, extremely handsome, someone who cares, someone who listens, someone who understands me.  Not just some jerk who’ll end up breaking my heart.  Someone who’s here to stay.”  I hoped that person is David.  “You?  I mean what you look for in a girl.”

“Honestly, I want a girl who’s pretty inside and out, creative, easy going, confident, someone with has brains, loving, respectful, a best friend forever.”

It was perfect.  He was perfect.  “This might sound a little cheesy, but meeting you is the best thing that ever happened to me.”

“I don’t find that cheesy at all.  I think it’s just being honest.”  He leaned in and closed his eyes.  I puckered my lips and moved my body forward.  His lips touched mine and from that point one I knew my life wouldn’t be so bad anymore.
