Day: 6. July 2010

This is the continuation of Chapter One: The Candles on my Birthday Cake have Frozen Flames. Enjoy!! 

                Confused, I got up from my chair and followed my family outside to my mother’s black Cadillac. She unlocked all the doors and we got it.

“Step on it!” shouted my Aphrodite to my mom and my mom for once didn’t argue.

The car veered out of the smooth driveway and onto the black asphalt of the neighborhood road. With the screech of brakes Hestia switched from reverse to forward and hit the gas. We sped down the road. Our tires screeched and skidded. Behind us I heard a screech of something else. It wasn’t the tires, though. Turning in my seat I a large creature with leathery bat-like wings and gnarly hand with large yellow talons. In one hand she held a bronze spear.

I screamed. I’m sorry, but, it’s the truth. I am not a person that is easy to scary, but that thing was not normal!! I turned around in my seat and asked,” What the heck is that thing?!”

“A Guru. They will rip your flesh off with their claws if need be.” Aphrodite replied.

“And it’s chasing us because…?”

“Because it wants YOU”

That scared me. Suddenly the car came to a stop in front of a hotel that seemed to shimmer with golden light. We all got out of the car and mom lead us to the large french doors. She knocked and shouted,” Open up! It is Hestia!” 

The doors flew open just as the Guru caught up with us. It dove at me. A large weight barreled into me and I was out like a light.

I woke up in a bed. Blinking I gazed around the large spacious room. I had never thought rooms in hotels would have marble floors and large white-washed pillars.

I sat up and saw a girl with long golden-brown hair asleep in a chair next to the bed. I felt uncomfertable, sitting up in bed while she was asleep. I was wondering whether to wake her or let her sleep when the girl stirred.

“No…trap..”she murmured. Her eyes suddenly opened. They were a dark brown and seemed to swirl like mine except mine were a blue-green color. 

“Athena!” the girl cried,” I am so glad that you weren’t hurt!” Unexpectedly she flung her arms around my neck and hugged me.

“Do I know you?” I asked.

“Of course you know me. You just don’t remember me,” she said,” My name is Annabeth DiLosa.”

“I am..” I began.

“I know who you are,” Annabeth cut me off,” You’re Athena Wise.”

Just then there was a knock on the door. Annabeth got up from her chair and strode to the door. When she opened it I could see a boy that was looked my age and had spiky blonde hair. 

“Tancred,”Annabeth said with a hostile tone.

“Annabeth,” the boy, Tancred, said,” Kar sent me to tell you that the party is almost ready.”

“Good, I shall make sure Athena is ready.”

That was when Tancred seemed to catch sight of me. He waved as if we were long lost friends. I didn’t know what else to do so I waved back. 

Annabeth closed the door in a rush, as if she was afraid Tancred would give me some disease.

“Come on,” Annabeth said,” Let’s give you a makeover.”

“A makeover?” I asked,” Why?”

“Because for the last two hours you blacked out, the rest of the Benders and parents have been decorating for a real birthday party.”

Grinning she grabbed my arm and dragged me out of bed and to the closet.

I sat there, my fingers digging into the wood of my desk my teeth clenched, waiting for Deilian to come in and take me home.I sat there thinking of how unfair it was,I didn’t have any part in that, but Deilian would have no part in listening. I sighed then heard footsteps coming closer,I recognized them as Deilians. The door opened and sure enough he walked in. He grabbed me by the arm, and without the word pulled me up, and began walking away, and as my arm was in his grip I had no choice but to follow. I notice he was carrying his suitcase, which meant we were leaving, apparently he though it was worse then it really was.Once he pulled me through the door I jerked my arm away.” Deilian-” I began but I was cut of for the second time today, it seems that alot of things were happening twice today.He got into the car, and I barely managed to get into my seat and close the door before he hit the gas.We drove in silence, yet I constantly watched the mirror in hopes that his expression would change or his clenched jaw would relax, yet his face seemed frozen into the mask of fury.He got out and dashed into the house not even making sure I was following, I reached to grab my bag, then realized I left it at school.” Deilian I left my backpack.” I called to him, even though I knew he could hear just fine. ‘ You won’t need it anymore.” Came his steely reply from the inside of the house, I dashed through the doorway ‘ so I’m not going to school anymore?” I asked, He nodded his head ” were moving.”"Again? WHY?” I asked angrily, he sighed ” Because they might figure it out.”" But i didn’t do anything.” I growl, suddenly he froze, and I could hear somebody else breathing, I began walking forward curious, but Deilian’s hand shot out stopping me, he immediately dropped into a defensive crouch, apparently our guest was not welcome.”Oh,please Deilian, my old friend, let the child see.” Came a splendid voice, seemingly from the kitchen ” What do you want from us, Zador” Deilian hissed, Zador chuckled” very well if you insist, the child has a gift, I have observed her for several months,” at this Deilian gave an outraged his but Zador ignored him” An I have noticed this, after careful consideration I realized that the child can move things wiht her mind, and I wish to-”"Deilian cut him of” I wish to hear no more of this, Azia will not get involved with you or your wars.” He said coldly ” Wars?” I asked him. ” yes my dear, yet it is not so much wars as, concurring.” Zador said smiling, and instantly I thought of the Volturi from Twilight. “No” Deilian hissed” now leave and do not return” Zador sighed.” Shame, because I am afraid that I will have to return, yet I will not be alone.” and with that he jumped out of the window. Deilian stood up, only to walk over to the chair and sit down, he put his head in his hands ” what have I done?’ he mumbled, I walked over to him and placed my hand on his shoulder” whats wrong?” I asked, he looked up at me, his eyes miserable ” we’re gonna die.” he whispered, and those words seemed to echo in my head

“I love–”

“Yes?”

“I’ll see you later.”

Mae wondered what that meant. “I love–” He loves what? Cheese? She thought for long moments contemplating everything under the sun except herself.

Mae walked in absolute silence. Her eyes still red and swollen. Her face blotchy and tear-streaked.

She was alone. Alone. All Alone. She began hearing footsteps. At first she thought she was just being paranoid.

Then she thought she heard bushes rustling, but when she turned, nothing was moving. Then she thought to herself.

No, nothing is there. Nothing. I’m all alo–

A black wolf pinned her to the ground snarling and looking as though he would eat her. A pack of other wolves approached as well. A gray one stood defensively over a sandy one. A chocolate one laid on it’s belly as though it would soon pounce. An onyx and tangerine wolf sat staring distantly. A cub with mahogany fur stood at the edge of the group patiently. A snowy wolf with pale blue eyes stood alone. Next to the tangerine and onyx one was an average wolf looking stressed out. The wild canine on top of Mae opened it’s mouth wide and came down, supposedly to take a large bite. Mae closed her eyes and waited for certain doom when

SLLLUUURRRRRP!!!!!!!!!!!

Mae opened her wet eyes to see not a wolf, but a boy pinning her down. He sniffed her hair like an animal and then he shouted in a deep commanding voice at her.

“Name!”

Mae stared in confusion. What happened to the wolves? Instead, humanoids took their places.

“I said; What is your name?”

Mae blurted out the first name that came to her mind.

“C- Cerra Wayy!” she cried. In reality Cerra Wayy was her grandmother.

“Eat the intruder.”

“WAIT!”

“Yeah?”

“That’s not my real name!”

“THEN WHAT IS!? I knew Cerra Wayy!”

“A-Amaenatia Sori!”

“Mae?”

“Y-yeah?”

“Mae–you reek!”

Mae wasn’t sure whether or not she liked ‘Ji. Sure, he was cute, smart, funny, and, apparently, powerful. But he was also jealous, shy, and outlandish…Not her type. ‘Ji however, was undoubtedly, and completely in love with her…almost to the point of obsession. She was his. Or at least he thought. He had many rivals.

‘Ji and Mae ran. Ran as fast as their adolescent legs could carry them. Mae had ‘Ji beat. She was much more fit and strong. He was weak and obviously an indoor person. They ran. All the way to the edge of a forest. An eerie forest. Mae shook in fear. Akooji squeezed her hand, trying to comfort her. She slipped her hand out of his, and she jogged into the forest with ease. ‘Ji walked forward to the edge of the trees and slammed face first into nothingness.

“Nice! Good one, Kai! Now let me in!” He walked backward, then sprinted forward, once again crashing into the invisible wall.

“Come on, man! Mae’s in danger! I’ve got to get her to safety!” ‘Ji waited for a response. “DUDE!” Still no answer. “MAN!” No answer. ‘Ji fumed.”Mae just go. Travel Northeast. I’ll go around the forest!”

Mae shook in fear and began to sob. “I–’Ji, I’m scared.”

“Don’t be. I’ll be just on the other side of the barrier. Don’t worry I won’t let you get hurt.”

Mae continued to shake.

“Go. I’ll meet you on the other side.”

“Okay.”

“I love–”

“Yes?”

“I’ll see you later.”

Mae turned and ran deeper into the forest.

‘Ji continued walking along the edge of the wood. Random and Bliss came bolting forward when they saw ‘Ji alone.

“Where’s Mae?” Bliss asked right away.

“In the forest. Kai raised a barrier.” ‘Ji responded calmly.

“Que Horror!” Random said in sudden realization.

“What?” ‘Ji asked.

“She’s alone.”Random spoke.

No response from ‘Ji.

“Alone….With Shadow and his disciples….” Still trying to get ‘Ji to see. ‘Ji’s face went even paler than his own vampiric shade.

“Oh God. What did I do?”

Chapter 8

I sat…I sat in my room wondering how long I’d be sitting there…..I couldn’t understand…..I didn’t wan to understand…..Why did this happen…….Why to me….”Fathom Mary NarstGet down here right now!How long do you expect me to let you sit around and be moup huh? I know you want to see Madi again but you will next school year.”She didn’t know….no one knew except me.I drug myself downstairs and heard the fireplace crackling.I could feel the warm spark es against my skin.My mother gave me my dinner of spaghetti and apple juice and she left me.I was home  alone and scared.All the other times I was home alone I’d call Madi.Speaking of that the phone was ringing.”Hello?”I asked.”Hi Fathom is your mom there?” “no sorry she just left.Do you want to leave her a message?’ “no thanks……You wouldn’t happen to know were my daughter is do you?” “uhh…” should I tell her?I thought. “Umm…No…I’m sorry Ms.durpan” “Oh..well thank you.”she said quietly.Oh why did I do that?KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
