Chapter Four: I Become Supreme Master of the Creek

Outside, I noticed the forest that surrounded the camp. Tall trees as wide as cars and as tall as …. well you would have to measure.
“Redwoods!” I murmmered. Oh yah, I forgot to tell you that even though I have lived in San Fancisco, I have never seen so many Redwoods in one place!
“Yes,” Charlie said,” We have a whole forest of Muirwoods and many wolfs roam the area. You’ve already met Cap. He is the leader of the pack.”
As Charlie finished talking, we entered the woods. Trees rose up on ether side of us and the air smelled sweet and of soft bark. We walked a at least half a mile before reaching a clearing. Sunlight steamed down and glittered off of a rushing creek. Annabeth and Nelly were waiting for us a and Cap was there, too. He was with four other wolf. Aphrodite was sitting on a small tree stump.
“Athena,” Charlie called. He was standing on large boulder. He gestured for me to join him. I climbed up onto the top. I stood on top of the boulder. Its surface was smooth and from my perch, I could see the creek and the ground far below(at least 20 feet). Above me the light blue sky held only a few clouds, and they were as fluffy as whipp cream.
“So, Athena,” Charlie said,” The way to test your power is to speak to the elements. Try Earth first. Say, in your mind, “Rise”
I thought,” This is INSANE,” but I followed Charlie’s instructions. Rise, I thought slowly. Nothing happened. The few excruciating moments occered again when I tried, Ball of Fire, on Fire. Nelly showed me how to created the fire ball by cupping my palms together so that is the fire appeared, it would not fall. I held my palms like that for a few seconds. The same thing happened as when I tried to bend Earth. Nothing.
“Try Air,” Annabeth suggested from the ground. I did. Zero. Nada. NOTHING.
Finally, Charlie suggested water,” Why don’t you try to tell it to make a arc.”
For some reason, I didn’t feel discouraged. Arc, I thought. For a few seconds nothing occered, then with a spluttering noise water gushed from the right side of the creek and created an arce over the water.
The whole group was silent. Then, as if a switch was turned on, everyone broke into applause.
“Way to go, Athena!” Cap shouted.
I let the arc fall back to the flowing creek, but everyone was still cheering and yelling. All, except Nelly of course.
We all got to camp in a rush. Cap called two more of his wolf friends and we mounted them. I found myself of Cap’s back for the second time in that day. “So,” he thought,” You can talk to water, huh?”
“I guess,” I thought.
“Good, I would hate to think that you were a fire talker,” Cap told me with his mind,” We wolves are not fans of fire. our wolf side of the family has had horrible losses from forest fires. It’s why we keep away from Nelly Flame.”
***************************************************************************************
We reached the camp in the matter of minutes. Everyone at the camp was doing his or her normal things, but they eyed me causiously as I followed Charlie to a large brick building.
Cap and his friends had gone back to the woods saying,” Mosters don’t wait for a chance to enter our territory.”
We reached the building and on the porch, sitting in a rocking chair, sat an middle aged woman. She had curly red hair and pale skin. Her eyes were a startling grey and she was staring into space as is she was day-dreaming, but she ether saw us or she had a really good nose, she called,” Charlie! Do you and your daughter need anything?”
“Yes, Clara,” Charlie said,” My daughter was determined as a Water Speaker, so she need her animal.”
“Ahh,” Clara murmured,” Her mascot you mean? Very well, come inside.”
“What mascot?” I asked Charlie.
“Well you see, every bender needs a bending partner. I have Hanster, my lion, he can breathe fire, glide, swim, and dig tunnels endlessly under ground.. Annabeth has her fox, Grove, who can tunnel under ground for more than two hours without stop. Tancred had his Snow White Owl, Nightstalker, who’s wings spark with electricy and Nelly has her Coyote, who’s tail is made up of fire,” Charlie explained while we made our way to an small table. On it was a gridded section.
“Place your hand on the grid, dear,” Clara told me. I placed my hand on the grid and imedietly felt a tinggling sensation.
Across from the table was a blank tv. Now on its surface was the picture of a golden…dog?
“Ah!” Clara cried,” There you go. Your mascot is a Golden Dog.”
I am Jordyn,
I am prod to be.
I walk through this garden,
And its just me.
This Sydney flower is not planted at all.
Theres just a bunch of Jordyn flowers-
Both rise and fall.
They sometimes have this object-
Very familer it is to.
But I’v never seen a flower named Sydney, or Carie, or Lulu.
Just a bunch of Jordyn flowers.
To the bore I sighed.
But theres something odd-
Thers this wall that I must clime,
Its magical to.
And every time I fall,
A flower grows without a clue.
And some say at the top theres something everyone wants,
But if your rotten forget it.
So what.
You will sufer great pain and wil continuly die.
Until confess without question why.
So you must know I live this garden of Jordyn-type fruits, vegies, flowers, and trees I lust.
But I will always tell you- there is no Sydney stuff.
