Happy Birthday, Aster….. Roll No More - February 29, 2012 by xThreeDaysGracex

Burning. That’s another pain I enjoy most. As well as the rocks and sticks that scratch and bruise my body I find that holding my hand over a candle flame makes me forget the pain that loneliness brings.

I promised the woman on the slope I wouldn’t roll anymore. I can’t keep promises. I am Aster. Aster can’t keep promises.

I don’t crave attention. It is the last thing I want. I like to spend birthdays alone. Did you know?

Don’t sing me a song, or tell me to make a wish.

Wishes don’t come true. I should know that by now, eh?

My 12th birthday is coming in a few days.

The woman knows this. She told me to meet her on the slope again.

It was just that day I’d decided to roll again. In class, I’d “accidentally” kicked over this girl’s paint. It stained the floor, in one big colourful mess.

I ran for the slope again.

Accidentally tripped. Rolling. Again. The sky and the floor traded places. This time…when I hit the bottom…my breath will stop.

Smack. I hit the gate at the bottom of the slope. A blinding pain as everything starts to fall into place. I can’t move my head. My hair is caught in the thorns. I smile manically as I hear bones crack, feels limbs twist in ways they aren’t supposed to.

A pair of footsteps stop beside me.

“Aster…? You promised you wouldn’t roll anymore”

The woman. Holding a birthday cake. With candles. Unlit. They aren’t burning.

I reach out and hold her hand, open my mouth to whisper the words.

“Thank you”

I visited the slope again today. Not to roll. I don’t roll anymore.

There are flowers there, teddies too. There are notes, but one stands out the most for me.

“Aster. The Rolling Boy”

There are candles.

The candles.

They’re burning.

——

Sorry for being so depressing. So, Aster doesn’t roll anymore. I never said he was dead. I leave you to imagine what happened with Aster West, the rolling boy. Heck, if you like, you can even write a short story as to what you think happened next. Just don’t steal Aster, ne?

On a happier note: Poptarts are awesome. Nuff said.

Barbarians chapter 35 - February 28, 2012 by ALooseAvian
This entry is part 35 of 39 in the series Barbarians Chapter

After a few minute of wandering aimlessly in the darkness, we sat down against the wall and listened to the sound of water dripping somewhere in this long, long tunnel. Other then the water it was completely silent. There were no gun shots in the distance or shoats yelling that we were over here. Everything seemed to serene and I couldn’t calm down just because of it. I waited for the roof to fall down on us or for someone to come and shoot us. But maybe I’m just being paranoid even if I have a right to be so. Ryan hugged me close and I welcomed it with open arms seeing how cold and wet it was down here. In a few minutes, my teeth were chattering and I couldn’t feel my toes. I don’t know how long we stayed down there but finally after an agonizingly long time of nothingness, I saw a small light down the tunnel, tiny at first but grew bigger and bigger as it got closer.

“You see the light to right?” Ryan whisper and I nodded though I wasn’t sure if he could even see me.

“Claire! Ryan! There you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you guys!” Ky said as he walked up to us with a lamp in his hand. “I thought you guys were killed by those men!”

“We weren’t no thanks to you.” I picked myself off the ground and was too numb to feel the pain in my side any more. Ky gave me a sheepish grin.

“Yeah, sorry about that. First instinct: Run. Come on, I’ll show you the way out and back up to civilization.” Ryan supported me once more as we made our way through the tunnels following the light in Ky’s hand, a beacon in the night.

“How long have we been down here?” Ryan asked after a few minutes.

“Not long. 3-4 hours. Long enough to give someone frostbite which seems to almost have you 2.” He gave us a glance and shook his head. “You need to rest up as soon as you get back to your inn. And do not tell anyone about our meeting. You will stay in contact and receive frequent messages. You will know when your time has come.”

With that said he quickened his speed. He brought us to a dead end with a iron latter bolted to that wall, leaning up to some sort of manhole. Ky pushed aside the cover at the top of that latter and blinding light broke through causing me to shield my eyes from the burning light. I climbed out after rapidly blinking and found myself in an alleyway behind some sort of restaurant. Ky climbed out behind Ryan and I and took off down the street without even saying goodbye or even looking back at us.

“Guess he no longer wanted us around.” Ryan muttered as we walked down the no crowded street.

Everywhere I looked, people were trying to lower someones prices on food and cloths. Ryan and I continued to split and met up again a few blocks down to make it seem as if we didn’t know each other. The last thing we needed was some rumor about a Barbarian and Savvy being friends. We finally made it across town and into our little inn. I gratefully sank into my warm bed, rubbing my feet to get a feel into them once more. And the 30 degree weather outside did not help at all. Drake rushed in and glared down at me.

“Where have you been!” he demanded.

“Nowhere. Just out and about. I’m feeling much better.” I forgot to kneel but it didn’t seem important right now.

“You have no right to leave this room without telling me so.” he paced the floor and shook his head in frustration. “You’re lucky I won’t have you beaten for this!”

I hung my head, a woman’s way of saying that they wish for no harm to come to them and that they are remorseful for their wrongs. Drake let out a deep sigh and rubbed his temples.

“Alright, alright. I guess I have holed you up a little to long. You are a Barbarian. It isn’t natural for us to be contained in these small rooms. Tomorrow you will be allowed to go out as much as you want. But you must tell me where you are going first.” I smiled at him; a real, genuine smile. Drake was a really good guy. Drake nodded, acknowledge my smile but didn’t attempt to smile back and walked out the room.

“What are you doing here!” I heard him scream outside my room. “Get out of here or you will be asking for a war you cannot win!” I was so tempted to open the door and see who he was yelling at but Drake would not approve if it was a Savvy. It was probably Ryan.

I rolled my eyes thinking of Ryan’s reaction when he realized that Drake had caught him. For the rest of that day, I lit a fire, warming the room to thaw out the rest of my frozen body and had a nice bowl of hot soup. Ryan came in after an hour, this time double checking to make sure Drake wasn’t in my room or anywhere near my room.

“Drake seems pretty cool.” Ryan made conversation. He had apparently eavesdropped on us while we were talking.

“Yeah. He’s a nice guy.”

“So… you like him?” I heaved out a sigh and looked up at him from the paper I was doodling on.

“I never said that. I said he was nice. And he’s loyal but I never said I liked him the way your talking about.”

“Well it’s good to have a little peace of mind.”

He sat back against the wall and disappeared into deep thought. I went back to my doodle of a single figure standing on a hill with thousands of millions of people crowding around the hill all facing the figure. The figure was blurred and I began to outline another figure next to the first. I don’t know where I got the idea but it just popped in my head a little while ago and seemed to bug me unless I drew it.

“You’re a good drawer.” Ryan said as he peered over the top of my notebook. Self-conscious I pulled the paper up closer to me so he couldn’t see it.

“Thanks.” And with that we resumed to our silence but not an uncomfortable one, one that seemed natural and calm and pleasant. Suddenly we heard a pounding of footsteps down the hall and Ryan dove into the bathroom and clicked the door shut. Drake burst through the door.

“There’s been a murder.” He said panting slightly. “Down by the bakery, a man was hung and it was not self-inflicted.”

“What? Who?”

“Some man. Carl? Kurt?”

“Ky?”

“Yes thats it. There were words written on the wall in his blood. It read ‘This can’t be stopped’ Wonder what that means…”

I bit my tongue. Ky was dead? I knew he wasn’t supposed to be telling us anything but I didn’t know it was this serious. Who killed him? Why? Who were they working for? A trillion questions zoomed through my brain and it took me a while to realize Drake was talking again.

“I’m sorry. What did you say?”

“I said you cannot leave this room tomorrow. It is too dangerous with a murderer on the loose. You must stay here.”

“Come on Drake. You said it yourself; Barbarians aren’t made for being cooped up all day long. I need to get out a little. I can take care of myself. And if it makes you feel better, I can have another Barbarian watch me since you will be away all day tomorrow.” He thought it over a little, his brow furrowed in concentration.

“Fine. But I will have Karnak look after you. You are not to leave his sight. Do I make myself clear?”

“Crystal.” he gave me a satisfied nod and exited the room with a bow. Ryan climbed out form under the bed.

“Well he does seem like a nice guy.” Ryan confirmed his own thoughts. “So what’s your plan?” he asked me as he dusted himself off.

“Plan?”

“Yeah. You know to get rid of Karnak.”

“I’m not going to. I just want to buy my own supplies and get out of here as soon as winter is over. Which is, as I must remind you, is a month away. We should be leaving in mid-January? That sounds good enough. Can you wait those 5 despairing weeks?” he smirked at me and put his hand on my shoulder.

“Of course I can. I was more worried about you. Are you not having a horrible feeling just from the 2 weeks you’ve spent staying here? And the next 5 weeks should be horrible.” I hated it when he was right.

“Whatever. I can deal with it. In the mean time, we might as well stock up on cloths and other supplies.”

He nodded in agreement and after some mild chatting he left the room and returned to his own. I climbed in bed after soaking in the tub and sank deeply into my fluffed pillow, welcoming sleep with open arms.

The Hardest Ever - February 28, 2012 by Imraan Dixon

This was made during the rugby world cup.

In a rugby tornament, each team played each other team once. The league table of that point was:

  1. Springboks: 1win, 2 draws, 0 losses and 4 points
  2. All Blacks: 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss and 3 points
  3. Wallabies: 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss and 3 points
  4. England: 1 win, o draws, 2 losses and 2 points

If England now beats the All Blacks, then which of the statements are true.

  • The Wallabies defeated the All Blacks, but lost to England
    • The Springboks won against either the All Blacks or the Wallabies
      • In matches against England, the All Blacks were more successful than the Wallabies
        • In matches against Wallabies, the springboks were more successful than the All Blacks
          • Wallabies were undefeated except against the All Blacks

One question, how get pics from the internet. They say I’m not allowed.

Raqshan - February 28, 2012 by Imraan Dixon

Raqshan liked a girl in his class. Her name was xThreeDaysGracex. Raqshan didn’t know how to talk to girls so he went to his older brother’s room. Raqshan asked AloosAvian how to talk to girls. AloosAvian couldn’t spell very well. He wrote every single word down on a piece of paper because he couldn’t talk.

One day Raqshan took his cue cards out and started talking to xThreeDaysGracex. He looked at his first cue card. “You look and smell like garlic,” said Raqshan. “What?” said xThreeDaysGracex very offended. “Wait come closer,” said Raqshan, looking into xThreeDaysGracex’s eyes, “Your eyes look like dynamite.” Raqshan touched xThreeDaysGracex’s hand. “I am a Bantu.” xThreeDaysGracex left him.

Raqshan got his mother to interpretate AloosAvian’s sign language. Sydney then said: “He says that he meant with everything.. wait, let me write it on a page.

Sydney gave it to Raqshan. It siad:

You look and smell like Jasmine. (I forgot this piece)

Your eyes look like diamonds

I love you.

AloosAvian just shrugged. As you can see, I used some of your peoples names.

No Way Out Part 5c - February 27, 2012 by Imraan Dixon
This entry is part 14 of 18 in the series No Way Out

You take the laser pistol. You then find that with it, comes a mini map device. You then type into it: “Key Card”. It shows an arrow pointing to a large metal door with the words elevator on it. It seems that aliens also have lunch breaks. There’s only one alien on duty. You shoot his armour. The laser slips clean through his kidney or was it both his hearts. Wierd. You jump in the elevator. It goes slowly up. A group of aliens appear and you get your pistol ready. When you put your finger on the trigger. A suit engulfs you. It was white and seemed very light.

You pull the trigger and lasers shoot out. The suits seems to be high tech. One alien shoots you and in a rush of panick. Your nerves trigger something called AR mode. You start seeing that the aliens are going slower and that the shot hadn’t hurt you. Now a voice says that this is your first time in battle and triggers walkthrough mode. The slow-motion event ended. Without you thinking about it. You jump on the wall of the big elevator. You run in AR mode and run around on the wall. Against your will, you create another pistol using nanomeds. And shooting. You jump off the wall and flip around to kick the one alien with your foot.

Now, the fun begins. You create a sword using nanomeds. You have your free will again. What do you do?

(c) Use walkthrough mode

(d) Carry on and delete walkthrough mode

Barbarians chapter 34 - February 27, 2012 by ALooseAvian
This entry is part 34 of 39 in the series Barbarians Chapter

The next day sucked. There were bags under my eyes from the lack of sleep and Drake refused to let me leave the room thinking I was sick. Now that I think about it, he would be a very good chief one day. He may not be bright but he is caring, strong, loyal, all the qualities of a good leader. The only thing missing is smarts but not many Barbarians have that. I guess that’s why I was engaged to Drake, so that we together will have all qualities covered. Together we really could lead a great tribe that just might go down in history. But it wasn’t what I wanted. I heard a knock on my door and called for them to come in. When no one entered, I stood out of bed and opened the door. I couldn’t be Drake because he said he would be out in the markets. I opened thinking Ryan was on the other side but no one was in the hallway. I heard a little tweet and looked down to see a small bird trapped in the cage. I gave a heavy sigh and brought it into my room. Even on my days off, I’m sill on the job. I let the little bird hop in my hand and untied the piece of paper that was stuck to its leg.

Go out to The Pigeon tonight at midnight.
Ask for a mixed willow. Bring Ryan.
Make sure you aren’t followed.
Burn this.

Subtle and straight forward. Exactly how I like it. Cautious to. Taking no risks. This person was smart. So he or she is either a Savvy or a Roamer. We just might meet our mystery person… or it could be a trap. I shook my head. No. I hate not knowing. I have to go. That night, long after the sun went down and the moon shone in the the cloudless, cold sky, I snuck out of my room, not making a sound in case Drake might hear me from next door, and slipped down the stairs to Ryan’s room. I clicked his door open and saw his passed out in his bed with nothing but a pair of jeans.

“Ryan.” I whispered in his ear. He shifted to his other side but didn’t wake up. “Ryan!” I said a little louder.

“Huh?” his eyes broke open with difficulty and peered up on me. When he realized it was me he sat up. “What’s going on?” he rubbed his eyes and looked at me with a curious glare.

“Come on. We’re going out.”

“Where?”

“Somewhere called the Pigeon.” I handed him the note and his eyes canned over it.

“Where did you find this?”

“I opened my door and there was a bird right there. This was attached to it’s leg.”

“Huh.”

“Come on. Put a shirt on.” He gave me a grin and slipped on a thick, woolen shirt.

We crept out the front door avoiding the manager that sat as his front desk reading a book. Outside there wasn’t a single soul in sight except for a few animals here and there.

“So do you know where we’re going find this place?”

“I would think it’s on this side of the market, you know where all of the inns and bars are at.”We walked around and glanced at the names of every inn, shop, bar, and farm that we saw. None of them were The Pigeon.

“Come on. The sun will be up soon and the streets will be flooded with people. I think we should go back. We’ll come back tomorrow night to see if we can find The Pigeon.” Ryan said to me after the 3rd loop around town. I gave a big sigh and nodded.

“Ok. Just one more street.”

We turned a corner and walked down it until we came to a dead end. I was pretty sure we search ever street, alleyway, and building that was here. That note better not have been talking about a different market.

“Hey.”

I jerked my head to the source of the sound. An old woman hobbled out of the dark and came into the moon light. She was in rags and had an unhealthy complexion that only made her small and frail body look worse. My heart reached out for her and I had a brief remembrance of my nightmares, of me becoming worst off then that old woman was. I shook my head and returned my attention to her.

“I hear your looking for The Pigeon.”

“Yes.” I said cautiously. I noticed the small knife strapped to hr waist.

“Follow me.” she turned away and Ryan and I shared a glance that said be prepared.

We followed her down the dark alley that was covered in blood, throw up, and many other disgusting things I would rather not mention. I huddled a bit closer to Ryan as we walked in deeper and deeper until the old woman finally came to a stop.

“We’re here.” she said in a raspy voice.

The woman opened the door that went down into a dark and cooled cellar that should be used to store food, not as a bar or shop or whatever it is. I peered down into it and couldn’t seem to find the bottom. A light flared behind me and the old woman took the led down the stairs with a lamp in her hands. I nodded to Ryan and together we walked down the stairs and into The Pigeon.

“One More Time…..” You Don’t Have To Roll Anymore, Aster - February 26, 2012 by xThreeDaysGracex

“Rolling girl is always in a dream

That will never come true

There’s so much noise inside her little head

And she scratches it all around, she scratches it all around!”

Freaks like me can dream too, you know.

I may be small and pale, blind in my left eye, my non-existent voice unable to form the words I so wish to scream, but each day I shall dream. Dream of something better. Dreams can come true…right?

There’s just so much noise, inside my head. It screams at me, laughs at me, the noise is deafening, roaring in my ears like the busy traffic outside the orphanage. I often reach up and scratch my head with my fingernails, as if I can somehow shut the thoughts off that way.

Friends are hard to make in this place. So I see nothing to live for. Nobody will adopt me. I will grow up and continue to roll, down a hill, inflicting wounds on my body. The pain gives me something else to think about.

“Are you done yet?”

“No, not done yet”

“Aster is a freak!”

I broke again today. That boy drove me over the edge. I punched him , straight in his nose, in his face, sat on top of him, not satisfied until I heard the bones crunch beneath my fist, clenched and tight, my knuckles bleached a deathly pale.

I ran away at once, over the fence and down the dirt track, steep, a long hill. I suddenly trip and begin to roll. Truly rolling again. The rocks and gravel that cause my body pain are almost like friends now. Today, when I hit the bottom, I wish that my breath will stop

I never meet the bottom. Somebody catches me; soft clothes comforting my bones which I feel are broken.

“Are you okay?” it is the voice of a girl.

“Are you done yet?”

I struggle upwards and stare into her eyes. She looks straight back into my own, not turning away at the blindness in my left eye.

I pull away from her and glare at her, shaking my head

“No, not done yet!!!”

“I’m stopping my breath just now…”

I close my eyes, reach up and wrap my hands round my neck, pulling tighter until I feel myself struggling to breathe. But I don’t take my hands away from my neck…almost there…!

She rips my hands away from my neck and pulls me into a warm embrace, her head buried in my long white hair. She whispers the words I’ve been longing to hear

“You don’t have to roll anymore”

“One more time, one more time

I will be rolling again today…”

Oh. My. Gosh.

How I love the song Rolling Girl TT^TT

Hey Diddle Riddle - February 26, 2012 by Cillman

This is the riddle:

You are trapped in a box on a desert island in a lake. How do you get out?

If you do somehow get out, there’s hungry sharks surrounding the island. How do get over the water?

If you get over the water, there’s a forest which you can only get through if you have a horse. How do you get through?

If you get through that, there’s a giant wall that stretches for miles and miles. How do you get over?

All you have is an apple and a knife.

P.S. The box is metal. It’s just a normal knife and apple. The sharks eat people. The wall is the size of the eiffel tower and as long as, uh, something really, really big.  Don’t cheat.

Ghost chapter 10 - February 26, 2012 by ALooseAvian
This entry is part 10 of 14 in the series Ghost chapter

10 Answers

I woke up and instantly wished I didn’t. I hoped I would stay asleep all day and not go through all the mourning that would take place here tonight. I saw how horrible of a mood Hunter and Abby were in and wished I could do something about it. They were sulking around all day and not even Bianca’s insults angered them enough to actually show any feelings beside grief. 7:00 came around and my house was filled with relatives and close friends. Some brought presents for my parents as if they would make them feel better. It was like a sad and upsetting family reunion and after an hour after it started, my mom banged a spoon on her glass to get everyones attention.

“Hi everyone. Hey. Well I would like to thank everyone for coming and supporting us. It’s been a really tough few months for many people. She held the key that unlocked everyones heart.”

“What!” I shouted and every single face in the room looked around to see who had said it.

But I didn’t care. Key unlocking the heart? Is that the answer to the riddle? But who is the keeper? Mom? No because she can already see me if I wanted her to so that wouldn’t make sense. It has to be someone I’m not related to. Abby? Maybe but she would deny everything and go into a state of shock if she even caught a glimpse of me. So it’s gotta be Hunter. I have to unlock his heart. Now it makes a lot of sense. Only love can bring me back and Hunter already loves me. So now all I have to do it make him see me. But how? I put the thoughts aside for now to here the rest of my moms speech. She and other relatives spoke at one point, giving teary stories about me in my childhood. At one point, Abby slipped away and ran up the stairs. I followed her as she walked into my room. She looked around and placed a simple box on my bed.

“Ha-Happy Birthday.” She choked back tears. “Jenna.” She cried and ran out the room.

I pushed a few soothing thoughts to her and heard her in the hallway settling down as her sobs turned to small sniffles. Then I sat down on my bed and opened the box. In it sat a beautiful ring with a green stone set in it. My birthstone. Engraved on the inside was the word ♥Jenna♥. I smiles and put it on my finger, admiring it and promised myself to never let it go but when I pasted the mirror, all I saw was a floating ring. I couldn’t believe it. I can’t wear it or else people will see a floating ring wandering the streets. I fell on the floor and looked at the ring with sadness. Patch appeared next to me.

“You can’t wear it that way.” stating the obvious.

“You think I don’t know that?!” I yelled louder then intended. “Sorry.” I muttered after looking at his face expression.

“You can wear it but you’ll have to put it on your body. Not you ghost form.”

“Really?! I can wear it! Ok is my body still in that alleyway? I’ll go there right now.”

“No! Wait. Are you sure about that?”

“Yeah why?”

“Well seeing you dead self might cause…discomfort. How about I put the ring on you body?”

“Oh well ok.”

He disappeared with the ring and in a few seconds, it showed up on my hand and I couldn’t see it in the mirror. Patch popped back next to me and gave me a satisfying smile.

“It looks good on you.” He whispered.

“Yeah. I like it.”

“You should. It was made for you.”

“Yeah, I guess it was.”

Elvish Wars – Chapter Two – Flint’s Test - February 24, 2012 by Cillman
This entry is part 2 of 6 in the series Elvish Wars

Seventeen years later. . .

The Elf known as Flint sped threw the obstacle course, dodging flaming arrows and spiked maces as he ran. An axe flew out of a trap in the wall and Flint slid along the ground to avoid it. he came to the second room which looked perfectly normal. He took a tentative step on the floor and nothing happened. Narrowing his eyes at the lack of obstruction, he started to walk across. After a few paces, the floor gave away suddenly. A lesser being would have fallen into the abyss below, but Flint had trained for this his whole life.

He jumped up high and clung onto the ceiling. Even though they are short, (about five feet or one hundred and fifty centimetres) Elves can still jump high. The second trap came into play and the ceiling started to collapse. Flint flipped in the air and ran along the wall for a few seconds, before catapulting himself to the next room. He had expected more obstacles, but this room was the finish. There was an old Elf sitting on a chair with two guards standing next to him.

Flint knelt before them and the old Elf spoke.

“Master Flint. You have done well. You have succeeded as the first Elf to pass this test. And for that, I will reward you.”

One of the guards walked over to the corner of the room and picked up a chest. He brought it before Flint and handed him a key. Flint stared at it for a few seconds. “Go on, open it!” urged the old Elf. Flint hesitantly turned the key in the lock and opened the chest. When he did, he had to shield his eyes for a few seconds because of the blinding glare. When he could finally look, he gasped loudly. Inside was a pure golden knife. The hilt was carved with beautiful Elvish runes and ancient letters of magic that had existed long before the Elves. The blade was about as long as his foot and the point looked razor sharp.

He picked it up gently and balanced the weight. It was perfect. He thrust at some imaginary enemies to get the feel of it. He usually was better with his bare hands but the knife seemed to control his movements. “Master. . .It is brilliant.” smiled Flint

The old Elf chuckled. “I thought you might like it. It was carved from the gold inside this mountain and embed with magic by my brother.”

“Your brother?” frowned Flint,”But Elves can’t do magic.”

“Yes, well, my brother was a very talented person. The magic runes will help your skills with it and I believe it has some other, ah, shall we say, abilities that are better discovered in combat. Oh yes. The blade has a name. It is called Shimmer.”

“Shimmer.” repeated Flint.

“And there is another reason I am giving you this blade.” smiled the Elf,”My brother I would like you to find him. He is no doubt somewhere in the emperor’s fortress.” He said the word ‘emperor’ spitefully, as though it was an insult, but Flint had other thoughts on his mind.

“Break into the emperor’s fortress? By myself?! With all due respect Master, that is impossible.”

“Oh, you’ll find a way,” said the Elf waving away Flint’s outburst,”And you won’t be going on your own. You may choose one companion to accompany you on your journey.”

Flint’s mind was in a whirl. He would have to leave Arcon for the first time in eight years. And he would have to cross the desert, which Elves rarely visit on the best of occasions. Then, after all that, he would have to sneak into a top security fortress of the emperor and rescue the master’s brother. Any sane person would refuse, but Flint. . .

“I’ll do it. I will take this quest and save your brother, Master.”

“Excellent.” he smiled,”You must choose your companion, and then leave as soon as possible.”

As Flint turned to walk out, still clutching Shimmer tightly in his hand, the Elf spoke one last time.

“And Flint? Please call me Elk instead. I just hate master.

Flint smiled. “Of course, Lord Elk.”

The Fugitive - February 24, 2012 by ealenate

The Fugitive This story was by three great writers Ealenate that’s me, Rasquan, and AlooseAvian
Tell us how you like it

An old woman with a red coat stared in amazement as a figure hurtled past her from the sky and landed on the sidewalk He landed without a single sound his black face mask gleaming as he ran off into the night. The old woman suddenly whipped off her face mask and threw it into the bushes. She reached into her purse, took out a cell phone, and started talking. “I found him.”

“Sir here is our police records,” an assistant said as he handed a sheet of papers to the commander and chief. “Thanks Henry,” he replied skimming over the sheets. His eyes were a blur as they went from one side of the paper to the other. “There I found it,” The commander and chief exclaimed happily. “He lived in…… Tennessee” “Men let’s get this thief.”

The dark figure hurtled himself behind a building as he heard police sirens approach. Then like a shadow he flirted to the next building. What he didn’t know that they were waiting.

“Sir I see him through my sights,” a gunman said as he peered hard at the dark figure blending in to the dark night. “Ready until he enters the building, men,” he spoke talking into his radio. The dark figure sneaked into the building calling out softly,” Mother you here.” All he got of an answer was guns shooting.

The figure fell to the ground His body landing with a THUMP on the hard cement. From behind crates and boxes, gunmen appear. On their bullet proof vests the word CIA is printed in huge yellow letters. They had bullet proof shields and guns. Slowly, they creep towards the body on the ground. As the first soldier reaches it, shots ring out once more into the still night. One by one, the gunmen fall to the ground, their guns dropping and shields clattering.

When he knows it is safe, the dark figure rises from his position on the floor. He looks around and spots his rescuer. Walking towards him or her, he removes his black ski mask.
Dark, curly, chestnut hair frames his handsome features. His dark eyes flash in the dim light as he makes his way to the other figure.

Slowly, his rescuer steps out from the shadows.
“Thanks they almost had me, “The man said to his rescuer looking around as if there was someone still there. “Sure whatever, “the person said ripping of the ski mask that blocked his face. It was a she. She was lined with long blond hair that went down to her shoulders and blue eyes that sparkled when she smiled. “Well let’s get out of here Ryan before they send in reinforcements. “Where are we going,” asked Ryan looking around if the CIA were still here. “We’re going to my old apartment to pick up my car then heading toward The United States.
Ryan walked behind the girl as they reached an old apartment building. In front of the building, an old pickup was parked, its red paint shining in the moonlight.

We jumped in and guess what she got to drive. I mean shouldn’t the boy drive. It was past eleven o clock before we got to the nearest airport. “Alicia how are we going to go past security,” I asked. “Our passports are fake.” “Ryan this airport is privately owned by my friend,” Alicia told me. That was a dumb question because if I had used my brain I could have noticed that there were no cars or traffic. We met a guy at the gate surrounding the airport. He could have been Alicia’s brother with the same blond hair and blue eyes. “This is my brother,” she said after much hesitation. “Wait you’re not serious,” I said with my mouth open. “NO you never told me.” “Well we just don’t get along, Okay, “Alicia said angrily.

“So? Doesn’t mean you cut him out off your family tree!” I exclaimed.
Alicia shrugged, “So? I never said I DIDN’T have a brother.”
That was true. It was also true that I had never asked. I guess it was a check-mate. Together, the three of us made our way into the airport, past the restaurants, desks, smiling ladies behind the desks, and to an airport tunnel. Or at least that was what I called them. They were the long passages that connected the airport to the airplane. Slowly, Alicia and I walked into the passage.
It seemed like hours walking through the tunnel but I knew it was only minutes. We finally got to the airplane. It was amazing. This thing was built for war so it was fast. “Yeah this is my favorite plane,” Alicia’s brother told us proudly. I have to admit it was sweet with jet engines and everything. It was equipped. “So were taking that one,” I said excitedly pointing at the sweet airplane. “NO WAY,” He almost screamed. “You’re taking that one,” he pointed. I followed his finger “That no way,” I exclaimed gulping. “Fine brother we’ll do it then but if I get killed the blame goes to you,” Alicia pouted her lower lip jutting out and tears pouring from her eyes. I almost felt sorry for her. Her brother took one look at her and said hesitantly, “Well fine you can use it.”

I sat down in a window seat. Alicia slumped into the seat next to me. She smiled as our plain started to move down the strip. Slowly I closed my eyes. In minutes I was asleep.

“Ryan! Ryan!!” I swear I could hear him shouting my name. I wanted to wake up so badly but every time I thought I broke through the blanket of sleep that wrapped me, I was dragged back into solitude even deeper. Man, what was in that’s coke?
“RYAN!” Alicia screamed in my ear and I felt the cold water drip down my neck, finally shaking me awake.
“Huh? What?!”
“One of our engines is down! We got to go! NOW! “She grabbed my hand and yanked me from the chair though I instantly crumpled to the ground, dragging her down with me.”What’s wrong with you, Ryan?!”
“I-I don’t- Something’s wrong.” I stammered, my lips not seeming to work either.
“No duh!! The plane is going to crash!”
As if on cue, a boom shook the plane and I could feel the shock wave rumble in the pit of my stomach. Someone screamed. It took me a while until I realized it was my own. The plane dropped like a stone and gravity disappeared from my life as I started to lift of the ground until I was pinned to the roof. And the worse part about it all? I couldn’t do anything about it. I don’t know how she did it but Alicia shimmied along the roof and with nothing but will and strength, pulled herself to the ground and dragged a parachute from under a seat. She let herself be thrown back against the roof with a hard crack that made me wince. Alicia clipped the parachute around both of us and dragged me to a hatch that lead out to the air. She cranked it open and threw us through as soon as we had enough room to jump out. The plane fell away from us until it hit the ground with a huge explosion that sent shards flying our way. I heard Alicia cry out as a hot piece of metal scraped her cheek.
“Pull the shoot!!” I screamed as the ground approached us dangerously fast.
“Oh no help should b from you! This is the second time I save your good-for-nothing butt!”
She yanked a string and the parachute billowed out, yanking us to a suddenly slow speed. We landed safety though and by the look on Alicia’s face, I was in trouble.
“What do you think you’re doing?!?! Were you trying to kill us?!?”
“No I just- I couldn’t-”
“Don’t give me that junk! Why wouldn’t you do anything?! We almost DIED because of you.”
“I’m sorry but I just couldn’t move. I couldn’t even wake up until you threw water on me.”
“What do you mean you couldn’t wake up? Did you drink anything?”
“Just a coke,” The answer came immediately.
“Ugh! They poured it for you didn’t they? They probably slipped a sedate in for you! Then they sabotaged my brothers-” She voice got caught in her throat. Tear-real tears- poured down her face as she fell to the ground a salvo of sobs. I almost wanted to cry when I realized what happened.
“Your brother was on that plane wasn’t he?” It was all she could to nod.

“Well at least were in somewhere, “I said looking at the desert landscape around me. “Yeah I guess Alicia snuffled wiping tears from her eyes. I looked t then decided, “Let’s find a bus.” Finally we found a city and a bus. We hopped on the crowded dirty bus and sat down. Two rough looking men came from the back of the bus one smiling at Alicia and snarled at me. “Hey you come back there with us.” “You go away,” he smiled a not a nice smile. “Alicia step back slowly,” I whispered. “When I say go break for outside while the bus is stopped and I can fight them there.” She backed up slowly smiling at the men.

“Now!” She screamed as soon as the bus stopped. I shot my leg out and tripped one of them as he tried to grab Alicia. I vaulted myself over the fallen man. “Ryan!” Alicia screamed and I felt something hard hit me behind the knee and I crumpled to the ground. The man I tripped clutched to my foot and refused to let go until I kicked him in the nose and ran out the bus door. Outside Alicia was grappling with the other man and losing fast. I ran up behind him and tapped on his shoulder. The idiot actually turned around to look and I punched him square in the nose. He fell on the concrete with blood dripping all over his face. Sirens echoed in the distance and I grabbed Alicia’s hand and ran. “I saved you. Does that even us out?” I shouted as we ran. All she could do was laugh.

“Alicia,” I touch her shoulder tentatively, “Would you like to go, um, visit his plane? We could probably find it.”
“Really?” Alicia sniffed, “I want to. But at the same time, I don’t. What if I find him? What if he’s, like, mutated and stuff. I couldn’t bear to see him like that.”
She began to sob again. Her blonde hair falls in front of her face and tears coarse down her cheeks.
“See, here’s what I’ll do,” I said, blinking past the sympathy tears in my eyes,” I’ll look for your brother. If the remains are cooled down, then I think I can find him. If I do, I find some way to keep him under shelter. Then should look for someone who is able to ship him to America or back to your family.”
Alicia shakes her head, “That would take too long. We don’t have that much time. YOU don’t have that much time.”
“I could just call my friends and have them do all of that for us.” I ventured.
“Yes, that would be good.” Alicia shakes her head and gives me a bitter smile, “My brother always sent people to do work for him. He wouldn’t mind. In fact I think he would rather approve.”

We set out an hour later. Still, making our way through the Arabian Desert is tuff, even for a fugitive.
As we traveled across the desert I couldn’t help thinking about how sad it is to lose a family member. “Hey there’s a city,” Alicia exclaimed breaking my unhappy thoughts. “Let’s see if we can hitch a ride,” I replied tiredly as I stared at the small ray of hope in front of me. We rented a car and drove for what seemed like hours. Finally we arrived at our destination.

It was a very small dock. Ships were floating on the deep blue Indian Ocean.
“Come on,” I pulled Alicia towards the nearest boat. It was called THE SEA DOVE. The boat was also beautiful. A bay blue paint made it stand out against the deep blue sea. When we finally got on the ship, a huge wave of relief swept over me

Is it my turn? I noticed how no one said why he is a fugitive. If you don’t like my reason then you can write an alternate version. P.S. He lives in like Russia or something right? ‘Cause they are trying to get to America right? Correct me if I’m wrong.

I slumped into a chair and didn’t plan on getting back up until we docked again. From getting shot at to exploding planes, I had enough. It’s very tiring being a wanted fugitive. What’s that? I never told you why? Well it started 6-7 weeks ago? I was at home, watching TV. Like any other boy would do on a Friday afternoon. My Ramon Noodles were still warm and I slurped them down as if I hadn’t eaten in weeks but to be honest it was true. They do not feed you at school. My TV glitches for a moment and I suspected some stupid commercial trying to sell you acne solution. But instead a man appears. The TV antenna must have caught it. (We have satellite not cable)
“You don’t understand! You are in no position to be making these accusations!” the man screamed but I don’t think it was directed at me. “Fire me for all I care! I DIDN’T STEAL THOSE FILES!” he paused for a moment as if someone was talking back those I couldn’t hear that. “I know our best spy died for them and I know I was supposed to watch them for the week but I NEVER GOT THEM!” He paused. “THEN BLAME HIM! JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE INFORMATION ON AMERICA’S PENTAGON DOSEN’T MEAN I WOULD WANT TO TAKE THEM!” he glanced off camera for a second and I could hear whispers. His eyes widened and his attitude changed completely. “WHAT!?! Who? Track them down and take them out! This is confiscated material! Louis! We’re being watched!” He turned his head and seemed to look straight at me. “Kill him.” he whispered and the TV. buzzed off and in seconds returned to Transformers. My jaw completely dropped and I realized I saw something I wasn’t supposed to see. In minutes the police were at my door only I think they were police. Do police carry grenades? I barely got out with my life and had the help of Alicia, who at that time was my neighbor. Now we are both wanted fugitives of the country of Russia and are on our way to America to warn the pentagon of what might happen. If we don’t do something, a World War 3 just might break out against the 2 most powerful countries in the world. So you understand right? How it’s completely NOT my fault my TV. just so happened to catch something. Ironic seeing how it can never catch the latest versions of Glee.

“Land,” I shouted excitedly peering through the fog that surrounded it. “What,” came a reply from a sleepy voice? “Alicia I see land,” I shouted happily. “What time is it?” she asked. “Ummmmm1:00,”I murmured. When we had reached land I noticed that behind us there was a ship following us. “Alicia start up the motor someone is chasing us,” I whispered nervously. She gunned the motor and we took off so fast I almost toppled overboard.

The wind swiped my hair around my face and I could barely see the moon in the sky because the ocean spray had blocked out my view from both sides. I tried to steer out boat away from the general direction of our pursuers. However I could still here the sound of the boat behind us.

A thick mist wrapped around us, making it impossible for us to see barely 1 yard ahead of us. The sound of the motor echoed all around us, seeming to run into us at any minute. We slowed the boat down to a halt and looked around us, hoping to catch some sight of land or sea or even or pursuers, any indication of where we are. I couldn’t tell if it was seconds, minutes or hours, but finally after a while, the noises of the boat disappeared and we were left in silence. We were in the middle of nowhere In the middle of nowhere. We were lost.

Element Ep 11: Jane’s Birth - February 23, 2012 by Imraan Dixon
This entry is part 11 of 11 in the series Element Ep 1:

Element Ep 11: Jane’s Birth

Nine Years Later: Dan’s House

Jane was in front of her father begging her to help control her powers. Dan just couldn’t believe it. Jane was seven years old and now she was standing there asking Dan for her to be trained. Felicity came outside and called out: “Dinner’s ready!”

Flashback: Restaurant

Dan was dating Felicity and she felt rather sad for her father dying. Dan took Felicity to a restaurant. This had been there second year of dating (which only started five days ago) and he had a surprise for her.

They sat down on the chair and they waited for the waiter to come. “So what surprise is it?” asked Felicity very excitedly. It was an engagement ring. Dan thought he was moving too fast, but he wasn’t getting any younger.

Dan looked over to table thirty-nine where he heard a fat woman arguing with a thin man holding an engagement ring. “No!” said the girl, “I’m not ready for this.” “But,” said the man. Dan now felt worried. If he proposed, would this happen? “But what?” asked the woman shouting very loudly. “But when you asked what I think about you, I said fat.” Now Dan was confused. How would this make her feel better? “When you asked me if I would stay with you forever, I said no.” Now Dan told Felicity: “That’s not romantic, that’s criticism.” “Wait for the whole thing!” Felicity ordered in a whisper. Then the man continued: “When you asked me if I would cry when you leave, I said no.”

“Bye, John, FOREVER!” replied the woman. She thought the same thing as Dan. “Wait! You misunderstood me,” called the man,” What I meant was: In the first question I meant your heart and your brain is big (your lovable and clever), the second I meant was one of us would live longer than the other and the last question I meant was that I wouldn’t cry if you left, I would die!”

Just then, the man burst into tears and the woman stopped and ran into the man’s arm.

“So, what was the present,” said Felicity excitedly. “It’s this,” Dan replied, taking the ring out. It seemed as if Felicity had a mixture of happiness and horror on her face, but she loved it.

“You know why my father punched you on the beach?” said Felicity suddenly.

“When?” replied Dan.

“The day of the alien invasion.”

“Oh…umm…no.”

“Guess you don’t read signs.”

“I fly.”

“Oh yeah! You see, my father put up signs that whoever talks to me, will get it. As he said and you kind of looked like that surfer who tried to chat to me. My father warned him especially.”

This was the highlight of his life (not the explaining, the engagement).

Present: Dan’s house

All three of them were having dinner.  Dan then started a conversation. “Hey honey.” “Yes,” Felicity replied. “Jane wants to ask you something. “Yes Jane?” Jane stood there unable to get the words out of her mouth: “C-c-c-can I… umm… learn how to… uhh… control my powers?”

Felicity turned pale. She excused herself and went to the room. “That wasn’t very nice,” said Jane. “Wait here and eat your food,” said Dan, which broke her intension to say something else.

Soon, Dan came back. “Daddy,” said Jane, “what’s wrong with mummy?” “Nothing, she’s just crying.” As Dan picked his fork up, he said: “And mummy says you can.” Jane knew what this meant.

Flashback: Dan’s house

Jane was only two years old. She was playing outside. She played ring a rosy with her cousins. When it came to the “and it all falls down” part, Jane fell down and the ground below her went up. She was very high up and was crying. Her cousins ran away. Someone saved her, but it wasn’t Dan…

One Year Later (Present): Safe house

Dan lunged forward, but Jane jump out of the way. Dan flew up and used baby. It caught Jane of guard, but she managed to dodge with a twist. The stars hit the ground with a mini explosion. Dust drifted into the sky.

Jane tried her best not to breath it in. “Pile Driver!” she said. The ground formed a spike, which spun around like a pile driver.

After that, they started flying, then sparring while flying. Soon, she started learning Instant Speed. They move very fast it looks as him it’s the same procedure as the holographic vanishing move (which I forgot to mention is called Instant Location). First, it was tried on the ground, then in the air.

Dan forced Jane to make Instant Speed a need for the sparring.

Jane used it, but so did Dan. It was a normal melee battle for the first two minutes. Jane decided it was time to show her dad who’s boss. She went faster than he did. For him, it was unbelievable. By the time he got there, Jane threw a log that looked like the ground. This was called rock log.

Dan used Instant Location to vanish behind her and kicked her back making her fly forward. This whole training process took at least six months.

To Be Continued…
