Reverse Ep.12 - February 21, 2012 by Cillman
This entry is part 12 of 12 in the series Reverse

Carla woke up several hours later in dimly lit room. She was strapped to a chair in the centre and although she couldn’t see anything, she was sure that someone was watching her from the corner of the room. She had a pounding headache where the girl had punched her and she tried to remember what had happened. Then it hit her and her eyes widened. The fire. Jumping onto the matress. Climbing the stairs. Ah yes. she could recall it now. But who was the girl? She couldn’t have been more than sixteen or seventeen. Was she a kidnapper? If so, she was a highly trained one, being able to take out a grown woman in a burning building. And Carla was tough. When she fought with her friends as a child (The fights were just for fun) she always had them pinned. No one had ever beaten her up. Ever. So to think that this youngster had taken her down so easily. . . ahh! It made her furious. To take her mind off it, she started to examine the dark room she was trapped in.

There wasn’t much around except for a table in front of her and the chair she was sitting on. She started to rock her chair from side to side, trying to loosen her bonds. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Missy.” said a cold voice from the edge of the room. A skinny man stepped out of the shadows and walked up to Carla. He was wearing a tuxedo with the Mafia logo – a circle with a star inside – on his chest. Carla gasped. It was the Mafia doing this! That girl was probably working for them and she had allowed herself to be caught off guard. There was a glass of champagne in his hand and he was supping it calmly. He looked very thin, and Carla would have laughed at him had she not looked into his eyes. They were deep and cold and they looked completely black, although Carla knew this was impossible. It must be the reflection from the light she thought.

“Hello,” he said softly “My name is Okuta.” Now Carla wasn’t an expert, but this didn’t sound like a Russian name. But it didn’t really matter. She doubted a Mafia worker would ever reveal his true name. She glanced up at Okuta and him doing something very strange. He was sniffing the air around him and he kept licking his lips. “Just to be sure. Just to be sure.” he was muttering to himself “Yes, yes. She was close. The other one. Of course. The other one. He did it. Not the girl, no. Him.” At this point Okuta’s eyes swelled up in rage for a moment and Carla saw clearly that it was no trick of the light. His eyes were pitch black. Okuta sniffed once more, and then nodding happily he walked over to the door. Taking some keys out of his pocket, he unlocked it and walked briskly outside.

Carla could clearly see that the keys were still in the door. She didn’t know what Okuta was talking about, or why he kept on sniffing the air, but she was sure of one thing. This was her chance to escape.

It wasn’t easy, but Carla managed it. She finally broke her bonds after an hour of sawing them on the corner of the table. Her hands were red and raw with the pain, but it was worth it when she could finally stand up off the chair. She wasted no time stretching her legs. She was mindful of the fact that Okuta or another Mafia member could walk in at any moment. She crept over to the door and peeked out. There was a long narrow corridor without much lights and there were no windows at all. Glancing around, she started to sneak down the hall. After a few minutes she came to a door. She tried the knob and it was unlocked. She wondered briefly was she still in Ireland, and then shook the thought away. You couldn’t get a knocked out woman onto a plane. The idea was absurd.

Looking inside the room, she saw a sight that made her jaw drop. Paul was tied up in a chair like had been a few minutes ago. Okuta was in the room, leaning over the trombone case, which Paul’s weird staff was inside. Carla didn’t know what it was, but it had made that security guy at the airport light up like a bulb so she figured it was more than just a normal stick.

Okuta had his back to her, but Paul was staring straight at her, his eyes wide. Carla noticed that he was gagged, and that his face was red from being hit. Carla felt a surge of anger for her friend, and she marched up to Okuta, who was still concentrating on the staff. She tapped him on the shoulder and as he turned, she punched straight in the face. It was a strong enough hit to make nearly anybody fall, but Okuta didn’t even blink.

Then Carla noticed his face looked different. His eyes were even bigger, and his teeth all ended in sharp points. “Hello, Missy.” he snarled and then he pounced.

This entry is part 8 of 18 in the series No Way Out

You feel a rush of panick run through you and fear they’re coming to this room. You look under the bed. It’s big enough for you to fit under. When you’re finally done, two aliens come into the room. They’re big and disgusting. They look at the fallen vent. The aliens was complaining about why no one wanted to fix it and that people were complaining about cyber-ghosts, escaped subject and broken vents. They left and you thought what they meant by “subject”. You quickly try to wake Jimmy. As soon as he wakes, he starts asking questions. You don’t have time for this and take Jimmy out the door with you.

You look around and it’s kind of like a factory. You hear more footstepts coming up a huge flight of stairs. You look to your left. There’s a box big enough for you and Jimmy. You look to your left. There’s a corridor that leads down to a big door. The aliens are coming closer by the minute!

(a) Jump in the box
