Chapter 3

 Names are Known

Meadowsweet woke up the rock. Facing the color streaked sky as the sun rose over the horizon. Birds were chirping there jubilant songs and shafts of sunlight cut through the trees. She slowly got up and stretched.  Getting her bearings she walked over to the tent where the men slept. She was in a state of submission now. If she left she would have no idea where to go. She really didn’t have any choice but to stay.

She went back to the tent. It was quiet so they assumed they were still sleeping. She was very hungry so Meadowsweet when out to look for some food. Not to far of their was a thicket of raspberries. They were in there prime and bursting with flavor. The tart juice died her fingers red. It started to sprinkle. Slowly it began to steadily rain. The water dripped down her arms.

Meadowsweet loved the rain. It was the freshest smell in the world. Thunder rumbled with a gentle purr. Then she heard loud rustling in the woods. She hid behind a tree waiting. Out of the trees came Nick he was shivering with the cold of the rain. Meadowsweet stepped out from behind the tree. “There you are…”

” Meadowsweet,” she said.

“I woke up with it thundering and you were gone. I went looking for you.”

“I’m fine, I love the rain, Nick.”

He looked surprised but did not say anything. They walked back to the camp. The rain then went from a steady rain to a pouring storm. Meadowsweet finally submitted to being in the tent. They all sat around drinking warm cups of water. She was happy in acceptents.
