Help! - April 15, 2010 by lilsawty2

Have you ever seen someone get totally embarrassed and you think, ‘oh, poor them’. Yeah well today that was me, Jess McKnight the most unlucky girl in the world. I know what your thinking, she’s exaggerating, how bad could it be. No. It was horrible. And if you don’t believe me you can stop reading, because you’re about to be proved wrong. So, I wake up like any normal day and go to school. As soon as I get there things are strange. There’s a news station outside the school talking about school expectations. I walked inside the lobby an everyone is rushing about, sweeping, and putting up flowers. When I got to class it was eerily quiet, I suspected the teachers threatened to punish the students if they were loud and the camera’s came in. And unfortunately, they did come in, just as I about to make the biggest mistake of my life. When our teacher, Mrs.Sandy was preparing our room she accidentally dropped the flower vase. And I, begin who I am, got up to help her but the water was clear and I couldn’t see it. And sadly I tripped, which sucked because the cameras where right on me. And you would think they’d be nice and not show it on Channel 5 News. You wold be wrong. They decided to do a whole segment on how school’s weren’t safe anymore. And I was blamed because I helped the teacher, unbelievable. I sat in the puddle of water for what seemed like eternity, but only about 3 seconds. I could feel my face red hot from embarrassment and hatred for all the people  who had laughed. I got up and brushed myself off, no help from my teacher. About 5 seconds later I looked back to the place I’d fallen and the water was gone, but no one had gone back there to clean it up. It was like it had just evaporated into thin air, and the flowers were just dust. Yes, all dust.

Lost Dog by Raqshan and Sydney - August 15, 2009 by raqshan

The sun beat down on us as we put up signs and worried about Buddy. Zack came to me and said,” All done, Emma.” I sighed and said,” I ran out of signs too. We walked back to our house. Mum was sitting on the couch reading Tom Sawyer. “How did it go?” We looked up and saw Jake, our older brother looking down at us. “Okay,” I said bitterly,” It might have gone better if you had agreed to help!” Just then the phone rang. Mum picked it up. “Hello? Yes…okay…Good.” She hung up and I blurted the questions that burned on my tongue,” Is it about Buddy? Did they find our dog!??” Mum looked at me in surprise then it softened,” No, dear. That was Mrs. Jones from the book club.” I ran from the living room to my room and slammed the door. I fell on my bed and sobbed. I missed Buddy. He would come up to my and lick away any tears that were on my face. I got Buddy on my tenth birthday and he was my puppy but he loved everyone and everyone loved him. Now he was gone! I had woken that morning and went down to the kitchen to let him out and give him his breakfast like I did every morning. But when I got there the door was open and Buddy was gone.

Lost Dog by Raqshan and Sydney - August 15, 2009 by Sydney Bailey

My door opened and my mother stood there framed in the door way.

She told me like always that everything would be okay, But it wasn’t it just wasn’t without Buddy. Everything was better when Dad was around but too bad he was long gone. He was my baseball coach along time ago and a darn good one at that. I was like the real meaning of Daddy’s girl but now I’m just little old Emma Jenheart from down the street. It’s hard being the only girl who likes to play baseball it’s just not right that Buddy has to leave too. My Dad used to be my favorite family member the one who understood me. He was the one who called me Emmy my favorite nickname, now the only person who calls me that now is my neighbor Tommy. I may be fourteen but I have the heart of a kindergardener.

I ran outside and knocked on Tommy’s door. Tommy’s mom answered and Tommy walked right outside beside me. “Tommy, I need a favor”, I said in the voice Mom used to use on Dad. “Yeah, Emmy”? He asked. “Can you help me find Buddy? He ranaway and Mom doesn’t have the gas to go looking for her in the old Cab”, I said quietly. Tommy nodded and we ran towards the place Buddy, Tommy, and I used to play as todlers. When we got there I was amazed to find Buddy under the shed by the graveyard. “Here, boy. Come here, Buddy”, I said making motions. Buddy ran over to me and licked my toes because I was barefoot. “Buddy! Hey Pal”, Tommy laughed rubbing behind Buddy’s ears. “Thanks for helping, Tommy”, I said quietly. Tommy looked over at me then asked, “Have you been crying”? I sniffed and nodded. “Buddy was a gift from my Dad. He was the last thing my Dad ever gave me before…before…the accident”, I sniffed. Tommy nodded and I laughed, “Dad always called me his Lost Dog because I was always here at the shed”. Tommy laughed and gave me a smile. “I remember, Emmy just know forever you’ll be my Lost Dog”, Tommy laughed. “That was really cheesy”, I laughed. “I know that’s why I said it, Emmy”, He laughed.

And I guess we lived happily ever after……..
